I got to see another new state: Maryland! They have Free Range Horses!! Ohh!!

Before about 4 months ago I never really traveled. I live in New York about 20 minutes away from Manhattan on the New Jersey border. My idea of vacation was maybe Connecticut, Pennsylvania, & of course New Jersey. Well when CJ came into my life a whole new door opened to me. Traveling. I’ve actually become obsessed lately about all the new places I can go & see the differences from where I live. Last time it was Chicago, Illinois. This time Ocean City & Assateague, Maryland.

There isn’t 7 Eleven’s but Royal Farms & Wawa (<3), instead of Burger King & Mcdonald’s there is Hardee’s or Arbys, or instead of a Denny’s there is a heavenly place called Waffle House. I <3 Waffle House. There smothered & covered hash browns were delicious!!!! CJ’s friend has a house in Assateague Maryland & that’s where we stayed. I had no idea tho what lil treasures this new state had to offer me. I quickly found out.

At Assateague Beach there are wild horses that roam freely amongst the beaches. Isn’t that crazy? Wild ponies that are free to roam & wander as they please. They’re beautiful absolutely beautiful. One of the days at the beach we were just sitting drinking some beers & watching the waves when I noticed 3 of the ponies eating some of the sand dune grass. I did some research on the area & there is no true story of why the horses are there, but they have adapted to the land & live there all year round. They are tinier than then regular horses so they all look like ponies. I wish I could have taken one home!!

I wish I could have done more but we only stayed for 3 days. We walked the boardwalk of Ocean City, saw America’s oldest carousel, ate funnel cake, & tried to relax for a lil time. I did learn that the next time I go anywhere with CJ we have to use my car because his is a stick shift. I got up way earlier than everyone so I would have loved to go out on my own more. Maybe next time. We played mini golf twice & ate all the seafood we could eat. Hehe. I did like it down there but I wish I had more time. Next summer please come faster! =)

Here are some photos from the trip:

More of the Assateague Horses. Aren't they beautiful?

The Pirate/Volcano Mini Golf course CJ & I went to! Crazy huh?

The most delicious Scallops with garlic sauce & tomatoes dish. Omg it was soo good @ Phillip's restaurant.

The Oldest carousel in America located on the boardwalk in Ocean City!

Doesn't this look like Merlotte's from True Blood??? hehe.

CJ & I stealing a quick kiss! <3

Random shark at Frontier Town. I conquered it.

So if you live on the East Coast & looking for a very quiet beach that isn’t the Jersey shore & have a love for horses, Ocean City & Assategue might be for you! =) Have you ever been there?

What a cool place. I've never been anywhere near there. I'll have to add it to my list of places I'd like to visit.

I'm glad you've been having so much fun and seeing the country Melanie! It is interesting to see what restaurants each part of the country has. However I think McDonalds is everywhere :)

Hi -- somehow I found your blog and just wanted to say: I read your profile and I LOVE 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' -- wasn't it just amazing? I wish it got more recognition that it did! I forgot how much I loved this movie. I am going to add it to my profile of favorite movies. Thanks for the reminder!!
Best,
Gloria

I have never heard of the horses down there! Amazing! And that mini golf looked like it rocked. I'm a huge fan of mini golf so maybe I'll go down there one of these days.
