Stolen Moments Sunday...

The weekend goes by so fast so I try to take every Sunday night and remember a few stolen moments that I never want to forget. Here are mine this week:

~ My Stolen Moments revolved around a luau! CJ's family decided to have a luau as their theme for their family bbq! It was actually a lot of fun! One of his male cousins showed up in a woman's sarong, the pineapples were in full glory, the lei's around people's necks and I brought a Luau treat of Floating Bear Cupcakes!! I think they were a big hit!! The lil kids realized that they could put their mouths in the icing to get blue icing lipstick too. Oops! lol =P It was cute tho!

I will definitely be teaching these cupcakes in my cupcake class this Fall. It is so easy. All you have to do is take butter cream icing, use blue food coloring for color, insert a teddy graham in the candy peach ring, place it in the blue icing swirl, and if you want put a mini umbrella on top of the cupcake for an extra smile. So easy and great for summertime parties! ~

~At some point in the bbq we got a call that one of our friends with stuck at a shopping outlet with no ride home. We told her to continue to shop and we would get her shortly. When one of CJ's family members asked if he was going to go get the girl, he responded, "I don't need to get a girl...I found the best." and then he looked at me. Total cheesey cute moment but they all did the big "Awwww". I really wish I blushed...~

~Go see "The Help" the movie. I loved it so much that I will see it again! You laugh, you cry, you cheer, and will be honestly shocked how true to the book they kept the story. Of course they didn't go into great detail on some parts but that's a given.  Almost word for word and then added great lil things that only enhanced the story. I can't wait to see it again because I want to see what I missed! =) Two thumbs up!~

~At the end of Saturday night when CJ and I were ready to head back to my place it was raining pretty hard. I ran up to my door first and then Cj called after me "Wait, I wanna open the door!" Last Sunday I gave him a key to my apartment. He turned the silver key in the lock and then said, "After you baby." I think it was such a great idea and positive growing to our relationship. Seeing him smile, was worth it all. ~

What a great weekend. Sleeping in til 10:30am on Sunday made it even better! hehe. Tomorrow's post will be about my chance meeting with one of the stars from the movie, "Grease". Yes Grease! I got a great souvenir too!! =) Til Tomorrow...

What were your Weekend Stolen Moments?
I'd love to hear...

Instead of Cake Fondant I used Chocolate! What a difference!

Alas, tonight was my last cupcake class. It went by too fast. Instead of doing more buttercream cupcakes my mom decided to teach us something a lil different. She isn't a fan of fondant icing and neither am I because it never has enough taste for us soo we looked to other means of decorating. Fondant is primarily what The Cake Boss uses to make all his creations. It can be molded into beautiful things but there is alternative ways to do the same thing.

Some people make Candy Clay which is basically chocolate melts & light corn syrup instead of the marshmallow that is fondant. If interested here is the link to the Wilton page for it. Candy Clay. My mom saw the recipe and knew it was going to be her last class activity. We prepared 1 recipe in several different colors for the class and got down to business.

Using the fondant sculpting tools & a rolling pin purchased at Ac Moore & Michael's we made some cute lil marvels.

It all starts when you roll out the candy clay and start using the cut-outs. It's as simple as that. The white stuff is powdered sugar which I sprinkled on it so it wouldn't stick to the rolling pin.

Using the fondant cut-outs I made this spiral flower. You can even use cookie cutters in this candy clay if you wanted to. These can then be placed on a cake or the top of a cupcake for an extra chocolate treat.

Then you can take it to the next step and mold yourself a rose...Maybe I'll do that in a future tutorial here...

It was nice to do something different. Some of the inspiration my Mom took for her class was from watching Youtube videos too. If you put it in Cupcakes a field of possibilities for motivation will come up!

What's next for my Cupcake Passion? Well my Mom asked me tonight if I would like to take over the class and become the Teacher...I happily said yes! She's going to talk to the Board of Adult Education but it should be fine for me to step in!! Woohoo!! Can't wait!! =)

Well I got some candy clay to try out...See you tomorrow! =)

I Wanna Be The Girl With the Most Cake...Cupcake Post!

Spring teased us New Yorkers a few days ago with warm weather but alas Winter is back tomorrow. Snow is in the forecast for the next 2 days. I guess those buds of flowers I saw will have to wait a lil while longer to bloom; so I just have to make my own garden...using Cupcakes!

My Mom for new followers is an Artist at heart and her Specialty is Cake Decorating! I've taken her class now for two semesters. I love it. I put my apron on earlier tonight and put my decorating bags & icing to work. It's so much fun to actually do it yourself that I can't begin to describe. Those sunflowers up there are my favorite. I added a lil heart sprinkle to give it some love. =)

It's all in the metal tips, decorating bags, icing, and a lil twist of food coloring. Seriously...and a lil patience. Actually ALOT of patience but making your own cupcakes is tons of fun. I got most of my supplies from A.C. Moore & Michaels. I wish I had some editing video software so I could make a lil video demo. Maybe on my new camera I'm getting soon.

I know I just posted about my dieting and I will confess...I had a some icing but only a lil bit I swear. I've been in class a few weeks now so tonight I did decorated a whole bunch of cupckaes to review the designs I've learned so far. I thought I'd share them with you and maybe inspire you tonight! =)

There is a Shower Cap Wilton Tip and it makes the icing look like grass when it comes out. I got a lil carried away with it...hehe.

Some Roses for some future gardening...

Sunflowers are my Favorite Flower...

I wonder what my Mom is going to teach us Next! =)

{All Pictures are Taken by Me & The Cupcakes are Decorated by me too.}

Ohh Lil Christmas Tree have yourself an early merry lil christmas!!

I know it's early to talk about Christmas trees but I just got back from my Last Cake Decorating Class & Christmas Trees was the last lesson. I think they are just so cute!! It's amazing what you can do with a cupcake, some food coloring, & a lil bit of icing. Those lil trees up there are ALL icing & ALL cupcake. I'll explain.

Basically what you need is 1 large cupcake, 1 mini cupcake, some green icing & some red icing. Of course you will need your metal styling tips & a pastry bag too. Oh don't forget your imagination.

You put icing on the top of the cupcake to make the tree skirt. I tried making red icing but for some odd reason it stayed pink. Oh well. You place the mini cupcake on top of the bigger iced cupcake.

Using a Metal Styling tip you start making the lil stars for the branches of the tree over the top Mini Cupcake.

Then you fill in the whole mini cupcake to create the Tree. I added some pink dots so it looked like ornaments & a yellow star for the top.

Me Placing Ornaments on the Tree =)
I can't believe this was my last class of cake decorating. I've learned so much I can't begin to describe. My mom assures me that there will be another session in the Spring. I can't wait. We also learned how to make a Tootsie Roll Rose.

That rose is completely made out of Tootsie Rolls. We softened up 3 tootsie rolls so we could combine them & roll it out. Using cutters we shaped out the rose. It's amazing what someone can create with just a lil sugar & some imagination.

I can't wait to use all that I've learned here in class. Soon enough I will. =)

Yes! I cant cook, guilty, therefore I go to Demos.

I cant cook. I'll admit it. I can boil water and make cups of soup, I can make simple pasta, um...i can make instant coffee, and I can make killer chocolate-dipped strawberries. My mother almost fell over one day when i started dipping the strawberries and it came out really good. She was like uhh when did you learn that? I told her about an ex-boyfriend who is now a host for parties taught me. Its my favorite thing to do. Whenever someone comes to visit me when i have an apartment, that will be the dessert. Sorry in advance =P.

But its a lil talent that I keep secret to those who know me so i can suprise them one day.

To try to change this, me and my mom have been going to these free demos at Williams Sonoma. It's that gourmet cooking store that omg they have those most gorgeous cookware. I'm in love with this mini cupcake holder.

Here it is it can be found here: Cupcakes!!

I wanna learn how to make those mini cupcakes. Watch I'll then turn into Nicole Kidman from Stepford Wives the remake with a million cupcakes in the house when I learn.

Well my mom and I went to the demo this morning and it was on Olive Oil. That sounds boring but the lady made this fresh pesto that Omg I asked for a second helping of the sample and it was soooo delicious. I went to the class on Vinegar last week and I've been living on Balsmic Vinegar from Modena brand and Olive OIl mixed together on cucumbers all week. It's something to do ya know? But they gave us little booklets with recipies and hey it was all free and it was fun. I'm not sure if every Williams Sonoma does this but the one in the Palisades Mall in New York does it.

In 2 weeks Im learning how to make crepes. I love crepes. I love french cooking. One day when I somehow get over my fear of flying I'll go to France.

I realized today Im doing the typical single girl thing. Find things to pass the time. I feel like Carrie when she was in between her flings with Mr. Big (Yes I have my own Mr. Big, but he has brown eyes instead of green). I dont have to prepare for school so yeah. Not having to buy school supplies for a fall semester is fucking weird. I feel like I'm forgetting something all the time but I dont know what it is.

Maybe I'm Rapunzel trapped in the tower But I accidentally cut my long hair and Im waiting for it grow back and Im trying to find things to do to pass the time til the prince comes or the time traveler shows up again or I can get down out of the tower and not worry about them.....

Waiting...
