Don’t be “THAT” Person, Okay? It Will Cost You Friends…

Twenty-somethings are notorious for their big groups of friends, having “The” bar they always hang out at, and routine outings. BUT all of this changes when a certain event happens. One of the group will meet someone to date. We’ve all done it, it’s okay to admit it…drop your friends for the first few days or weeks of the new relationship. It’s COMPLETELY understandable that those first dates are going to be one-on-one time with the new person and then slowly but surely the couple will integrate back into the groups of friends and hang out. However then you have “those” friends who drop everybody except for the new significant other and you never see them again….that really should be unacceptable friend behavior. I mean it…

Recently CJ got a few buddies of his together to start the promise of a band. They were all excited for their jamming sessions and I was a 110% supportive of this change. They had a few songs they all agreed on to work with and the reality of true possibility was staring them in the face. Alas, it was staring them in the face. The lead guitarist met a girl…

It’s very soon to say if this will be the downfall of this band dream but I’ve seen this happen countless times before. An ex-friend of mine, the second he got a girlfriend, dropped all of his friends & a film-making dream and only hung out with her friends. CJ’s best friend Sean only hangs out with the girlfriend and her friends. Another instance here and yet another instance there. It’s an epidemic.

I’m hoping that this isn’t the case with CJ’s band. He was so happy about the band and like me the winter is not kind to our emotions. We both have seasonal effectiveness disorder and I thought this could be his light for the dark winter.  Mine will be my novel that will be done this winter. His should be his music. There is another band member that CJ hasn’t really talked to yet about the other’s “new girlfriend” so I wonder if two against one will push the other guy to do some very serious time management so they all won’t hate him. Lol.

Guys will be guys tho. I don’t know…I’m wishing CJ some luck in all of this. Lots of luck!

Review: Green Day's Broadway Show "American Idiot"

Every once in a while there is a band that seems to ALWAYS be there in EVERY stage of your life. A prom song, a “I just got dumped” song, “I’m angry at the world” song, “I love him with all my heart” song, a bang your head side to side like a rocker song, and then a song that pretty much sums up your generation. This band that has played all of these songs and more is Green Day. I’ve been a fan for years & without fail when I ask “Hey it’s been a while, did Green Day come out with a new album yet?” the answer is most probably Yes!

But they took it up another notch and now have a Broadway show called, “American Idiot” and it was absolutely AMAZING!! I’ll be honest with you that I never thought of going to see it even tho I’m a big fan. Money is tight lately & I’ve never been hit with the Broadway Show Bug but my eyes glazed over when CJ’s Mom surprised us with two tickets to a show WITH BILLY JOE in the cast for CJ’s birthday. I think I blinked a lot when she told me because I was in shock. I’m ever so happy we went.

One thing before I tell you about the show...if you plan on seeing it familiarize yourself with their album, “21st Century Breakdown” beforehand. The show is 95 minutes without an intermission and there is tons of stuff going on all over the stage so listening for every word of every song is impossible. If you know the music you can just hold on and enjoy the ride.

I wish I could have taken some pictures but above are some stock photos of the show cast. I’m not going to give away the end of the show but the story revolves around 3 men setting off to take life by storm with their guitars in hand and dreams on their shoulders. But…then the 21st century basically hits them directly in the face. A time of war, drugs, misjudgments, broken dreams, out-of-sight love, growing up, coming back to reality and then waking up to your decisions all shoves it’s way into these three guy’s lives. There is something for everyone in this show. Whether you personally can relate or you knew someone that had trials and tribulations in the past 10 years you will be standing up with the rest of us clapping when the cast bows at the very end.

What really was the most Awesome part of it all was that Billy Joe himself was in this showing. CJ and I kept looking all over the madness of the cast dancing & industrial-feel set waiting for him to appear. Then BAM! There he was singing along with the cast. I think he has an awesome voice that doesn’t need auto-tuning at all. It’s a natural talent. I cried at the part when he himself sang “Last Night on Earth”. That’s CJ and me’s song so it was like Omg OMG he’s SINGING IT!!! If him and I get married it’s going to be our wedding song. =)

“I hope you had the time of your life…”

The show was a big hit in my book and I’m very happy I got a chance to see it. It really makes you think to about yourself and the generation you live in too. If you’re a Green Day fan you’ll be excited to see this & if not you might be a fan by the end of the show. =) This show will definitely be something CJ & I remember always!! =)

Blast from the Past in the Now: The 1964 Beatles Tribute Concert at Carnegie Hall!

"I got  a Golden Ticket!"...well not for Willy Wonka's chocolate factory but I had it for something equally as fun! Last weekend I got invited by my friend Debra to go to the 1964's Beatles Tribute Concert & it was an experience. First off I had never been to Carnegie Hall in New York City so that alone was a treat. Ohh the people that have walked those floors & filled the rooms with beautiful music. Louis Armstrong, Billy Holiday, Pavarotti, just to name a few. I almost wish I worked there so I could always hear the beautiful music...

Debra & Me on the right

We didn't know what to expect but when 4 Beatles impersonators came on stage I knew I was in for a treat. Seeing the people dance & shout & there were even ladies lined up at the edge of the stage. I wonder if they were there when the real Beatles played there. People went pretty wild & were breaking it down 60's style but I really can't imagine how insane it must have been in 1964. The music going, the hair bobbing, the cute British accents singing, & the screams of the die hard fans. Must have been Awesome!

Now I am a Beatles fan but I HONESTLY didn't realize how many songs they actually have! They played 22 songs AND this was just from their earlier days. "Yellow Submarine" did make an appearance tho. The best moment was them telling us to take out our phones and call someone we love to listen to "Eleanor Rigby" with us on speaker phone.  I called CJ & that is actually one of his favorite songs so he was happy to hear it. =)

What was pretty cool & sad at the same time was at some point someone screamed out, "We miss you John!", when the John Lennon impersonator was singing a solo. It made me cry a lil bit. Poor man.

One of my ongoing New Year's resolutions is to take on as many random opportunities as I can. I think I'm starting the year off very well with going to this concert. It was alot of fun & something I'm sure Debra & I will talk about for years. Next year we're definitely going to get more people to go!

Are you a Beatles Fan? I'd love to hear!

It's a New dawn, it's a New day, its a New life for me.....and I'm FEELING GOOD.....

There are few things in this world that I just can't pass up. One thing in particular always tickles my fancy. No it's not the pumpkin spice latte. It's Concerts, baby. I love live music. If the band sounds just like the CD or the MP3 in concert I will love them even more. This weekend was insane. Alas the Headless Horsemen haunted house was sold out but I got to go see MUSE live in concert in Newark, New Jersey & that just blew everything out of the water. IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!

Amazing may not even be the best word to describe it. Anyone a fan? If you are you have to see this concert live. It's called the Resistance Tour & the opening band was Metric!! I only knew the song, "Help I'm Alive" going into it. I'm now a big fan of theirs. They played the opening set but Muse ruled the stage. In the beginning we just saw these 3 pillars & were like What the fuck? We soon learned that Muse was actually IN THE PILLARS!!  They played for like 2 straight hours & it was probably the most energetic crowd roaring most kickass concert I've been to in awhile. Oh yeah.

When they played "Supermassive black hole" I think every Twilight fan lost their voice. The lead singer had a reflective guitar so he could shine light on the audience. I LOVE it when the band loves their music. Muse must be a fan of theirs. They were so into it that the main singer was like "Whoa" in the middle of the songs & on the video playing on the pillars you saw him smiling. There was guitars, pianos, drums, bass, & a harmonica played. The crowd was jumping up & down, bobbing their heads, dancing, pushing up huge eyeball balloons that dropped from the sky. It was so cool.

The light show was unbelievable. I actually was happy our seats were so high up because I got to see it all. Yea I didn't have the closest seat but it didn't matter, it rocked!!

Who was the last band you guys saw in Concert?

Here are my pics from the concert!

Before the Concert was filled with a Sold Out Crowd!
Muse appearing from the pillars!
My friend Debra & me!!
CJ stealing a smooch from me!
The insane light show! It was incredible! It was like being in a music video!
They disappeared into a cloud of smoke!
There was so much energy to it. Ohhhh. If you get a chance to see this concert I recommend it. What a weekend. I have so much more to write about!! Also there has been a problem with the condo. Yes apparently it shouldn't be taking this long. I'll explain tomorrow. I also went apple picking this weekend too!!! I'll post about that too!! Stay tuned.... =)

Halt! Who goes there...A Kickass Haunted Weekend!

Ever have those weeks that are like a big dog on a leash & they just rush you through the park? Who’s walking who huh? I can’t believe it’s Thursday already. Talk about FAST!!! This big dog of a week has thrown me completely off. I have so much to do & this weekend I’m not going to get anything done because of course there is a million things to do! But I’m going to hold on tight for this upcoming ride.

CJ has been telling me about the Headless Horseman Hay Rides for week’s non-stop. YES Sleepy Hollow is actually a REAL town. It’s formerly known as Tarrytown, NY about 20 minutes outside Manhattan. A lil up from it NY comes haywire for Halloween. The tale is fictional about the Headless Horseman but in the middle of the night when you hear a horse galloping when all you see are cars your mind will play tricks on you. Hehe.
Well hopefully we will be going to this Haunted House festival hayride this Weekend!! I checked out the pictures & it looks pretty friggin sick. Here’s the website if your interested on sneeking a ghoulish peek! Headless Horseman Hay Rides. Let’s get this Monster Mash rollin!!

The other event that will tie up my weekend is the Muse Concert on Sunday Night. Anyone a Fan of Muse? You might know their song, “Time is Running Out” that came out a few years ago. They are like alternative rock & industrial like. Also their songs have peeked into every Twilight Soundtrack to my delight too. “Supermassive Black Hole” ring a bell? It’s the song playing in the famous baseball thunderstorm scene in the first movie. Anywho I’ve liked them for years before Twilight. They have a very unique sound & apparently their concerts are amazing!!! Rotating stages, light show, & blasting your mind with good music.

The concert is in Newark, NJ. It shouldn’t be too bad to get there. Only about 45 minutes. I live on the border of NY & NJ so I get the best of both worlds without the hair bump. Maybe a lil hair bump. I will take tons of pictures of both things!!

Hopefully I will find a scrap of time to go to the gym, later tonight I will do my decorated Pumpkin cake post from my Cake Decorating Class, & maybe I’ll get to send my resume out to more companies online. If only I had all the time in the world. If Only... Be back later.

Finally I feel like I’ve joined the 21st Century!!

After years & years of wanting one I finally bought one! I am the proud owner of an Ipod Classic!! Ever since my college roommate Danielle got one in like 2005 I’ve wanted one. Not going to Las Vegas has freed up a lil extra money I had been saving so I bought it yesterday. I actually do have a vacation trip in the works so I'll tell you all about it later in the week! I was going to get an Ipod Touch with 32GB but I realized for less the money I could get 160GB. I’m completely comfortable with not being able to touch the screen. Lol.

Now this is where I need your help everyone!! Okay so I bought a new laptop about a year ago but I’ve been hesitant to use Limewire or Bit Torrent so I have like no music on laptop at the moment. I’ve been using Playlist.com at work to play some tunes but now I gotta REMEMBER EVERY SONG I USED & STILL LIKE TO DOWNLOAD!! It’s going to take me forever downloading everything but I’m ripe for the challenge! Now your part…

What songs do you think I must have on my ipod? What’s your favorite songs to rock out to on your ipod or phone?

I’ve already downloaded some of the New Moon & Twilight soundtracks, I got the Spice Girls & the Backstreet Boys, some Black Eyed Peas, some Rancid & Nine Inch Nails, AFI, My Chemical Romance, Reel Big Fish, Gorillaz, Yes, Aerosmith…but that’s all only about 30 songs. I have enough room for 16,000 songs so keep rolling with the tunes suggestions!! I like almost everything! I’m all ears……

Goodbye Music Men....play your 76 trombones somewhere else.

The past week has just been a blur really with all the health issues so I think its about time for some cleaning. I should just admit that my bedroom will never be clean any of the 365 days of the year...sometimes 366. It might be tidy for an hour or so but it never lasts. That's cool, I've come to terms with my "hoarding" tendencies. When I mean cleaning I mean getting rid of the junk that is my head. As I've said before I lack closure in some of my past relationships...well I'm going to say goodbye to them here so it's at least said somewhere.

Looking back I realized I've only dated one guy who wasn't a musician. I've heard of patterns but this is ridiculous. I think of myself as the Movie girl...the Movie girl + the Music guy is like oil & water. They will mix for a while...but eventually they will separate. Huh...yeah that's pretty much sums it up. Well its time for goodbyes. I'm done with musicians. Those boys have sang their songs & moved on...now its time for me to do the same.

#1: Chris: 2003': I'm not sorry I helped you all those times because you had no else to see how sick you became & sit with your mother & your the only one I'm really officially over cuz you dumped me face to face. For that thank you, but I will never be able to listen to bongo drums again without cringing. Oh yeah & I know you hid them in your microwave whenever I came to your dorm room. Bad hiding spot dude.

#2: Drummer Boy: 07' That night we met you were a different person then every other day I spent with you. You were a great kisser but you left, then tried to come back. You have confused the hell out of me with your sudden return after 2 years. But even after 2 years your still the same. I can't sit in silence in a car just listening to music. I like to talk, I like to switch things up, I like to laugh, I like different music...and your just too much like a light bulb that burnt itself out. Please don't call me again.

#3: Spanish Boy w/ the Gray Eyes 09': Bad nickname for him but it fits. Was as fast to start as quick to end. Your excuses were ridicolous. The fact that I had to tell you, "I don't know if your going to tell me your going to save a cat from a tree next" is sad. When you called me the wrong name at a very bad time I almost wished I knew what band you sang for so I could go to the concert and scream the wrong band name up at ya. You deserve it you creep.

#4: The Gone New Guy: 10' I needed you. I needed you more than you'll ever know. That night when you kissed me after all the chaos of the rain was perfect. When Tom Petty's "Refugee" played on the list you made me make on your computer I thought I was done running. But when I found out you returned to your bad habits & the nice guy act was a mask...I just can't stay. You can yell & be a prick to me all you want but I'm done. You were a waste of a perfectly good black garter belt.

Well those 4 musicians are soo done. I mentioned the other day that my mind has been tuning like a radio station through my memories to find the good ones. I found the good ones...those 4 above are not in any of those. I can't erase the memories but I can let it go. One step at a time. There it goes...like music notes in the wind....

"Don't cry to me, if you loved me
You would be here with me...."

Why is all the Tea Gone??

So I've decided to join the bandwagon but with a lil random twist!! Alice in Wonderland is one of my all-time favorite stories & Disney Movies. I have my hopes up for this new one, so I really hope Tim Burton nails it. I loved Helena Bonham Carter in "Fight Club" & of course Johnny Depp in everything & Crispin Glover in "Back to the Future" so I tip my tea cup to them! What I'm wearing is actually my Alice in Wonderland costume my mother made me a few years ago. hehe. Yea I'm a bit obsessed.

The reason for this post is to bring up a few "Other" Alice adaptions that you all may not know or remember!!

For example Tom Petty's music video for "Don't come around here no more" is Alice in Wonderland themed. If you get a chance Watch it.

I'd never thought I'd see Tom Petty as the Mad Hatter. I think he did a pretty badass job!!

Secondly, do any of you remember the TV show that used to be on Disney called "Adventures in Wonderland"? Remember the white rabbit was on roller skates?? Twiddle Dee & Twiddle Dum had parachute pants?? I used to be addicted to it! Here's the intro! Maybe you'll remember?

Then of course there is Jefferson Airplane's song called "White Rabbit". It's one of my favorite songs!! Here are the lyrics and the video.

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small

When men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving slow
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know

When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said;
"FEED YOUR HEAD!" - Jefferson Airplane

Ohhhh I can't wait to see this new movie too!! Anyone remember any of this above stuff or have I lost my head? Maybe I drank out of too many bottles that said, "Drink me" on it? Oops! hehe. Til Tomorrow...

Have your cake and eat it too...

Apparently New York state & Alaska switched places. I'm in a blizzard. An absolute white-out conditioned snow storm. They said 10-18 inches by Saturday morning. I would be alright with it if I was getting paid for the time off. I'm not. I'm going to really have to scrimp & save this month & next to make up for these days.

Today regardless of the snow has been an interesting day. When there is snow & your stuck in your house, your mind starts to play games with you. What I mean is that it starts running scenarios in your head. What if this one called, what would I do? What if I did this, would that work? What if I shaved my head, would I be as crazy as Britney? hehe. My thoughts weren't as random tho as I would have liked them to be. They are centered on a certain upcoming concert.

I like a band called Dommin. They are Hot!! They are gothic rock & their lyrics are amazing. That's me with them in the above picture. They sound just like the cd. They are soo good live too. I went to see them back in October. Here's the post if you want to check it out. The Dommin Concert. I went with a certain boy. He is now asking me if I want to go with him again....................

After seeing him & his new girlfriend in matching hats about 2 weeks ago, I don't know if I can go to this concert with him. He asked,

"Are you going with me?"

That seems like a simple question. It's not. What he really means is, will you go with me AND who ever else decides to come along too, aka his girlfriend. I don't understand how he can possibly think I can sit there with them & be okay. There is no place for me in his life. Not one inch of space. No room in his car, no room with all his work friends, no room on his arm for me to hold on to, no room for talking, no room in his bed, no room for kisses, no room in his thoughts, and especially no room in his heart. I'm literally left out in the cold.

He wants to have his cake & eat it too, basically. But I really want to see the band play. I want to go to the concert, its just such a small concert hall that I will see him & he will walk over to me with her & I will lose my cool. I'm not sure what to do. Drats. He's obsessed with the band too so I'm stuck. I have to get over this by the end of March or I can't go to the concert. Ugh this is a mess, like the snow & like him. Maybe it'll snow & it'll get canceled.

I don't know what to do. The snow isn't helping cuz I'm probably not leaving my house til Saturday IF the snow stops. I want to go to the concert & have fun which I know I would have but I'd go home alone & he'd have a new memory with the girlfriend. Why can't Mr. Big just leave Carrie alone? Sigh. Tomorrow is a new day...new way of thinking. I hope my answer is clearer tomorrow. I really hope....

When I turned 24 I thought it would be a 24 hour party. I was a tad bit wrong.

Bye Bye Miss American Pie...Drove my chevy to the levee but the levee was dry...

Okay so I'm going to let you guys in on a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. My music taste varies from Cradle of the Filth to the Backstreet Boys to Lady Gaga to Pat Benetar to The Birthday Massacre to Carly Simon & of course alot of fluff in between. But another era of great music I absolutely adore is 50's music. I love the words of hopeful love, the struggles, & the cuteness of the sincerity in the lyrics. When I'm havin a bad day I'll put in one of my All 50's songs cds & just rock out to Dion & the Belmonts, the Four Seasons, Brian Hyland, Elvis, & any tune you swing at me.

Today I'd like to take a minute to remember the following singers who died today in an unfortunate plane crash in a snowstorm back in 1959. Buddy Holly, J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson, & Richie Valens. Some of you may not know who these men are but have you ever heard of the movie, La Bamba?? That was about Richie Valens. He sang the song, "La Bamba", "Donna", & "Come on Let's go". His song "Donna" is so heartfelt & so true to real love that it makes ya tear up. It's beautiful. Buddy Holly sang the song, "Peggy Sue" & it's so cute how he describes her. The Bigger Bopper sang the song, ""Chantilly Lace."

The song called, "American Pie" by Don Mclean, you must have heard that song somewhere, is actually about these three men. Madonna, I have to say, butchered the absolutely amazing song in a much shorter version a few years ago."I can still remember how the music used to make me smile..." There was a terrible snow storm & I can't understand why they would take off in the airplane. I guess times were different then & the show must go on regardless of the snow. A coin toss determined the young Richie Valens's fate. It was either him or Waylon Jennings. Richie won the coin toss to go on the plane. The pilot also died. I don't know his name but I think he should be remembered too & not forgotten. Without these singers music wouldn't be what is today. Even Bob Dylan says that.

Richie Valens

Buddy Holly

The Big Bopper

Richie Valens was just 17 years old, Buddy Holly was 22, & The Big Bopper was 28 years old. What a terrible shame. Well even 51 years later after your death all of your music can still be blasted in a Honda Civic in the lil town of Pearl River, NY in 2010. "They caught the last train for the coast the day the music died...". R.I.P. & Thank you for the music.

Here is a video of the song for "Donna" by Richie Valens. I love this song. He loved a lady named Donna & because of life issues they broke up. It's probably one of the most true love songs I've ever heard. If you get a minute listen to it. It's a beautiful song.

"But something touched me deep inside The day the music died."
-Don Mclean, "American Pie"
