Ohhh I didn't realize that...huh...Look at that, There IS A DIFFERENCE!!

In this New Chapter of my life where I am now a home owner the subject of parties & mini get togethers are buzzing around constantly. I cant' wait to have a small dinner party when I find a dinner table that doesn't break the bank & will fit nicely into the space. But already I realized that I didn't know certain things. *Cough* Like the truth about the left-over chinese food. Thank god for ginger ale. *Cough* Well something I didn't know that will help me in the future came up yesterday...Wine Glasses. 

The other day I was in Pier 1 Imports and noticed they had these really nice wine glasses for a cheap price but the glass was weighted & looked beautiful. I picked up 4 of them & got out my White Riesling Wine last night & low behold Cj turns to me and says,

"Babe do you have any White Wine Glasses? These are Red Wine Glasses."

Huh? I guess I never realized that there are different types of wine glasses. So I thought I'd share with you what I found.

Red Wine Glasses

"Glasses for red wine are characterized by their rounder, wider bowl, which increases the rate of oxidation." - Wikipedia

White Wine Glasses

 

" White wine glasses vary enormously in size and shape, from the delicately tapered Champagne flute, to the wide and shallow glasses used to drink Chardonnay. Different shaped glasses are used to accentuate the unique characteristics of different styles of wine." - Wikipedia

There is a whole process of oxidization of the wines which affects the taste of the wine. Red Wine needs oxidization so the wine glass has that inward bowl. The white wine sometimes needs LESS to bring out the flavor so the glass sometimes has a smaller mouth on it. 

There is so much more but I thought I would give you guys a taste of different wine glasses so you at least can see the difference for future purchases!

Stolen Moments Sunday...

Here is another edition of my New Feature. Stolen Moments Sunday I'm so glad I'm sticking with this. This weekend turned out so nice I couldn’t have planned it better myself. The shock of finally owning my place has worn off & now I’m reveling in it. I had a couple over with Cj on Saturday night & I made dip, we played Rock Band, I put out bowls of yummy snacks out, & I felt like it was a total success!! I wasn’t overwhelmed or frazzled. I still tho have to do something with my naked walls. It’s too much white. I will paint probably in the spring but right now I need something on them. Hmmm…Anywho…

The weekend was full of Awesome Moments & some questionable ones…I’ll explain. =)

 ~Making cupcakes for my friend Debra’s Annual Soup Party! Yeah I know that’s new to people’s ears. Soup Party?!?  She thought it would be a new quirky tradition to start. Each person/couple brings a different type of soup. She made this tomato, rosemary, garlic soup from a Williams Sonoma book that was DELICIOUS!! The winner of the Best Soup got a golden Ladle. A lil strange but it was a great Sunday activity. ~

~The new refrigerator was supposed to come on Friday during the snow storm. Yeahhh it didn’t. My Mom & I shoveled the walk way for it but alas no show. I called and they said it was a mix-up & that they were sorry. Dented fridge & False Call for Delivery…Thanks Loews, you sorta suck. ~

~CJ & I planning a mini vacation for April. We are going somewhere tropical. I’m soo excited. ~

~Green Day Rock Band. KICKASS GAME!! Seriously, they have almost every song you can think of. It was so much to rock out to it! Also The Beatles Rock Band. A lot fun for all ages. I recommend it. =)~

~Cj stayed over on Saturday night & I had written “I <3 CJ” on my lil dry erase board. I didn’t tell him I did that but when I looked at the board at some point I saw beneath it… “He <3’s Melababe.” That's his nickname for me. It was too cute. ~ 

~Ohh yeah PASS on the movie, “Dinner for Schmucks”. THANK GOD we only rented it from a Red Box for like a $1. If I had paid money in the theaters I would have been pissed. The movie went too far & it was awful. ~

~Hearing a miraculous story about a homeless man who is now the announcer for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese & has a God given voice. Good for you Ted Williams!~ 

~One last thing. Finding a TV channel called Logo that plays Buffy the Vampire Slayer re-runs! Hell Yeah!~

Oh No! My Crushee is BACK!!! AHHH!!!

The snow. Yes, it's back. Around this time last year it messed up every date, event, occasion, or just even a hang out on me. I swore it had a crush on me. But thankfully this year it gave me a lil break and only did it's thang while I was at work. =)

It has the nerve to look pretty. =) I have a feeling this is going to be a slow year. A very very slow year. This week seemed to last forever & the weekend just creeped to slow. Yeahh tho for it FINALLY arriving!!

I'm heading over to CJ's place tonight for some Shrimp Tacos. mmhhhmmm Yummy!! A lil shrimp cooked in garlic pieces, rice, chopped-up tomato, sauteed onions, sour cream, soft taco shells, and a splash of salsa...Ohh and a lil bit of love is music to my ears.

A lil Kerosene, blow tourch..hmmm...No Problem! =)

I love that scene in the movie, "Beetlejuice" when Delia & Otho go through the Maitland's house and basically want to change everything.  I wonder what they would think of my lil home. =)

As I prepare for the next winter storm by stocking up on wine, chips & salsa I thought I would share with you guys some pics of what I've done so far with my new place & a draw-back. I received my refrigerator on Tuesday and was sooo excited for it. Everything was coming together but alas things weren't so perfect. I didn't take all the plastic off until I got home from work & I found that there was a HUGE DENT in the refrigerator door. I've calmed down from the insane anger rage state I was in, like seriously if I was in an anime cartoon my head would be huge & red & I'd have horns with lil puffs of smoke radiating from my head. Here's a pic of the big dent.

Thankfully however the replacement refrigerator is coming tomorrow. AND hopefully the snow won't be too bad to delay it. =)

I did manage to get a desk, my bed, & a couch set up so here are some pics for the time being. =)

Yeahh somehow my color scheme became red. I like it tho! =)

This condo has been a lil overwhelming at times but I asked my mom to help me & cj so it should continue to come together nicely! =) 

11 in 11…Make a wish for a Rocking New Year!

Once upon a time I wanted to get married on 11/11/11. I thought it would be the coolest day ever to get to married. BUT I doubt that’s going to happen, however I’m completely cool with that. Cj told me the other day that the day he’d want to get married is March 20th. Of course I squinted at him and asked Why? He replied, “Because it’s the First Day of Spring & I thought it would be special day to get married.” Yet another small moment that makes my heart smile.

In reality that day isn’t going to come this year which again I’m TOTALLY Cool about so What am I going to do be doing for next uhh 359 days? What tricks will I have up my sleeve? How about 11 resolutions for the 11th year? Yeah I like that.

1.   Lose 25 pounds & Keep it Off. I’d be happy for 20 pounds.

2. Save some money this year. Now that I have a mortgage this is a MUST!

3. Declutter, throw out, & keep my new condo as CLEAN AS POSSIBLE!

Geez it seems like everybody has those 3 resolutions, so I’m going to make the next few a bit more personal.

4. Set & Complete a small weekly Goal every 2 weeks.

5. Keep a planner the WHOLE YEAR to keep track of paying bills, dates, events, etc. I need to be On-Time with way too much so This is a MUST!

6. Write the first draft of my zombie novel. It will never be anything if it’s just in my head. I have to get it on paper somehow.

7. Make some new friends & let go of the shitty friends. It’s okay not to hold on anymore if they aren’t even meeting you halfway.

8. Go to a Blogger Meet-up! Or meet someone from blogger! I’m looking forward to this one!

9. Travel to more places I’ve never been before!

10. Keep my relationship with CJ fresh & new & growing. He was one of the best parts of 2010 & I want him to be a big part of my 2011.

11. MOST IMPORTANT ONE: Find a New job with Benefits that uses my Degrees.

I think that’s a pretty reasonable list. Nothing to far-fetched like riding an elephant…well that will be something I want to do some day. The only problem with resolutions is straying from them but that’s the best part of the day I find. Those random occurrences you didn’t plan. Like meeting a guy in a bar & falling in love. Meeting Pat Benatar & Molly Ringwald. Accidentally booking a hotel that was smack in the middle of the Transformers 3 filming. Finding my dreams again & learning they can come true. Loving cake decorating & cupcake making. I wonder what’s going to happen unexpectedly this year?!

R before S, ESPECIALLY with your Track Record…

Okay so we ALL have that friend who has always had a boyfriend, lost her so-called “virginity” first, thought she got her Aunt Flo first, & has to call you to blab about her escapades in her dating life. I got one of these friends & hmmm let’s call her Zoe. I’ve known her for pretty much 15 years & I’ve listened to 15 years of her “Sex & the City” type tales. It’s gotten so ridiculous that every time I talk to her which is about every 2 weeks there is a new guy or the guy from the previous week is no more. BUT THEN she gets so upset when it doesn’t work out with a select few of them & comes to me for advice….Now when someone is constantly telling you about all of the men she’s been with or teasing HOW can you possible tell her any advice that would sink into her head that she might ACTUALLY DO???

I can’t tell you guys how many times I’ve told her stick to ONE GUY & be yourself with him because it’s not fair to her or the guy to be such a run-around. What baffles me is that she tells me all the time if I know anyone to fix her up with? How can I fix her up with someone I know when I don’t know if she has someone on the side lurking waiting for that booty call or she’s still pinning for the chasing amy guy she’s hoping will come back? Regardless I really don’t know what to say to her anymore in all of this because I’m blue in the face with telling her that she has to change.

Well when a man she has known for 20 some odd years breaks her heart last night & tells her that he feels like their relationship is just sex & that he wants to take it slower than that & be friends first she naturally freaked out. They’ve been sleeping together for a about a year btw. She is upset because she wants to have the sexual relationship & the friendship but he doesn’t. He didn’t say he never wanted to sleep with her again he just said he wants to know her better because he feels like he doesn’t know her at all except for the sex. That wasn't good enough for her so she ended it completely but is now she is looking to me for help.

Honestly I don’t think he was being mean, I think he was being honest. She took it as a disaster & now wants to be celibate & not date ever again. She wants to give up on the dating life. I told her why don’t you just have a rule: “RELATIONSHIP BEFORE SEX”? She said it sounded like a good idea but I don’t know if it got through her thick skull. I told her try being single for a while but that never works. I’m out of things to tell her. I feel bad but I just don't know what else to say...

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before? Traveled to states I’d never been! Chicago, Rhode Island, Delaware & Maryland.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t think I kept any of them. I gotta check that out ASAP!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes, an old friend of mine had a baby girl! She is soo cute & looks like a lil doll!

9. What was your biggest failure? Remaining at my current job. I really need to get a new one before March 31st.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I have fibriotic cystic disease so I did have to have surgery last May to remove a fibroid. It was a success tho! =)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Cj. I’m such a lucky girl to have him.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? My friend Debra. She will be discussed in later posts & I plan on distancing myself more & more from her this year.

14. Where did most of your money go? Buying the condo. But it was for the best & a great investment! =)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Going to Chicago. It meant that CJ & I were really a couple & I had ALWAYS wanted to go there.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Basically everything on CJ’s ipod. The kinks, MGMT, the Format, Bloodhound gang, & TONS of Green Day songs that I guess never went mainstream so I didn’t know them, but now I love them!

26. What did you want and get? A key necklace, a tripod, & a Wii! <3

27. What did you want and not get? I got everything & more.

28. What was your favorite film of this year? Inception, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, & Get him to the Greek!

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 25 & CJ threw me a mini birthday party! It was so nice of him. My mom made me a beautiful cake too!

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? A new job that uses my college degrees.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010? Hmm a lot of black & dark colors. I guess it reflected my mood in the beginning of the year but now it’s a lot brighter. I even now own a yellow shirt!! =P

32. What kept you sane? Cj. Yup. I definitely lost it a couple of times.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? (Love the word “Fancy”) I think Ryan Reynolds is hot!

34. What political issue stirred you the most? The whole bash your opponent in stupid commercials while your running for governor. I thought it was very childish. I’d rather see what you’ve accomplished then know your bad-mouthing the other guy.

35. Who did you miss? My friend Danielle. I rarely see her.

36. Who was the best new person you met? Cj & all his Kickass friends.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010. You can’t forget your family. They will always be there for you no matter what happens & will help you out if they can. Also you can’t change the past so you have to live the present.

Where have I been?! Updates! =)

Absolutely. Cj was right next to me giving me my FIRST New Year’s Kiss. Somehow the New Year’s Eve kiss always ran from me years before. For 24 years I never got it at midnight. But ringing in 2011 I did get one & it was the perfect way to kick start the New Year. HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVERYONE!

 Where the hell have I been you ask?

Well when your life drastically changes in the end of the year you’re going to feel mini spouts of panic, you might cry, you could become a frazzled disaster area, and it sorta will feel like you’ve awaken from a brief coma where the whole world is different. BUT moving out of your parents’ house & having your own place is priceless. Needless to say I’ve had a few awkward days in the new place.

I was lying on my new bed(pictures are too come later this week) and I couldn’t catch my breath for a few moments. I have gotten panic attacks so I’m assuming this was one. I went into my bathroom & splashed water on my face & drank a bottle of water & eventually calmed down. The refrigerator that I thought would be a rockin blew out when I plugged it in so I had to buy a new one. An extra expense I didn’t want to pay. 

There will be 6 months Free Interest on it tho so that’s awesome. I need to buy a new kitchen faucet. It spurts water everywhere when you first turn it on. I accidentally stepped in Dog Shit on New Years Eve however I realized it before I walked into the condo. I have a bit of a keeping pointless stuff when I should be throwing it out problem that hmmm…uhhh that needs  a whole post. The complete submission to how tired I am has become my master. I’ve drank so much coffee in the past few days that it’s a lil sickening. After all of this I really needed some help.

I don’t know what I would do right now if it wasn’t for my family & CJ. My mom is going to stay home for me tomorrow to get the refrigerator. Thank God! CJ is going to help me move the rest of my stuff over from my parents & my mom is also making sure I remember to breathe. It’s all so different & the weight of all the responsibility has hit me. I even paid my first common charges tonight. It’s real. I just gotta take it tho one day at a time. 

Big changes but I need to take small steps. I’m all ready for this New Year & I want it to kick start it! I’m actually looking forward to a normal work week. Some normalcy I think would do us all some good. I’m going to post some pictures of what I’ve done soon. It somehow happened that my color scheme is cherry red. I like it very much. I’m going to need your guys help with a toss/keep post & other things I’m looking forward to in the New Year! So much to come! I'm taking the bull by the horns & pushing forward!! =)
