Dimes.

Sometimes I get lucky enough to find money on the floor when I go out. I actually one day found $20 at the movie theater in the mall. It was just laying there for the taking. In these random occurrences dimes are the coin I find the most often. Maybe because it's really light coin & it's actually smaller than a penny, so it can easily fall out of pocket or a hand? *Shrug*

At the end of every month I do a post about Saving Money Tips. October 31st was of course Halloween so here are some quick things I did last month to save some much needed cash.

Saving Money Tips

1.) Buy one, Get one Free. or it's close friend: Buy one, Get one Half-Off. It's a sale advertisement you often see in shoe stores, department stores, & the super market. Tomorrow I'm actually going to get a new pair of shoes at Payless for the "Buy one, get one 1/2 half off." Can't wait.

2.)Monthly Rates or Passes: For those who use buses, trains, or subways on a regular basis; you can get a monthly ticket or pass that is actually cheaper than paying for a ticket every single day. The difference your saving will start to add up each month for you...Trust me.

3.)Cell Phone Service Changes: Make sure you have a cell phone plan that suits you. Hear me out of this one. If you are going over your texting limit each month, so your paying an additional fee for each over-the-limit text, well...CHANGE YOUR PLAN! Pay the extra $5 or so dollars to get unlimited texting. I have a friend who had a $20 extra on his cell-phone bill because he didn't realize he went over his limit. It's an investment that might help.

4.)Holiday Sales: Items are expensive. Too expensive for certain things. Keep an extra eye open for those silly commercials & ads in the paper for the Super Deals so your not running around like an insane person the day after Thanksgiving. (From being home for the week I got so sick of watching these commercials I started to listen to them. lol.)

5.)Treat Yourself: Yes, this is actually a money saving tip. If you set aside a little play money for yourself each month to spend on something you really want, you won't feel so trapped by money. You will feel like Oh I did get some goodies & my wallet is still in pretty good shape. It might curb your Spending Lust.

Those are just simple things but you never know. Sometimes you need to read things or hear them out loud to really let them sink in. =)

Besides saving a lil money, I actually went out last night and had some totally new fun!! It was my best friend Erin's birthday & we went to see the band Shilelagh Law, an Irish folk rock group, play at a pub in Yonkers, New York. It was so refreshing and nice to get out and just have some drama free fun. Her cousins joined us with some their guy friends and everyone was just so nice and new and just omg NEW!!! Maybe I've found a new group to chill with?? They invited me out again too. Here is Erin & me ready to run this town tonight. And yes that is a real genuine smile on my face. =)

Also, Erin, her cousin Michelle, and me all went to breakfast at a diner. I was all happy because we had one of those diner conversations about the night before & how cute this & that guy was. Things are changing and I have to let them. I can't continue how I've been going.

I told you I was going for a real start at new. I'm sticking to it. If I could only stick to my diet I'm starting tomorrow then I'll be going great.

Today I also received my giveaway from the awesome guy & friend, Barry, from the blog Life in Quotations. His comments are so inspirational & his blog leaves with you a smile. GO check him out. I won a Cross pen, that Oh my God writes beautifully. I have a slight addiction to pens, btw. I have drawers and boxes full of them. But this one I'm totally in love with.

Needless to say, I wrote a lil tonight. <3

With a better outlook on current situations, I'm back to being content for all the right reasons. I even got a new tag for posts, "Good Times". That makes me smile. New friends, new pen, new place to chill, new opportunities...

I have a problem saving even when I try! It seems I always need the extra money I have saved for an emergency and then I never get to do what I planned to with it. :(

And I, too, am addicted to pens. Especially ones that write smoothly and make you WANT to write all day long lol.

Hey hey Melanie!! It was SUCH a great surprise to see a pic of the pen, but especially that you've been writing with it already. Makes me feel good. Thanks very much for your sweet compliments!

And it's nice to see you smiling; looks like a change of pace with who you're hanging out with is turning out to be a very good thing for you. Keep the good friends, but ditch whoever drags you down. My unsolicited advice. :)

Oooh, fancy new pen! It's pretty! :)

I used to always go over on my texting, until I told my mom to just add it to our family plan. With it, we got unlimited text and pic messages, and I'm pretty sure I was the only one out of the 4 on the plan that used either. I would rather text than call... lol.

Good luck on saving those nickels and dimes. :)

I'm so happy you and your new friends had a good time the other night. I love that pic of you and your bff. You are so pretty and that smile of yours is GORGEOUS. You should smile more often!!
Congrats on winning Barry's giveaway. I agree he is pretty awesome. You totally deserved that pen too. I love how you still write in actual journals. These days I find myself mostly using a computer. It is so unromantic. Lol.
I hope you're having a great week!
