A Successful Treasure Hunting Saturday...

Today was supposed to be my Condo's street Tag Sale but apparently people got scared away of putting out their loot when it started to drizzle. It never happened. I'll admit I was so aggravated this morning because I got up on a Saturday morning at 7:30am to prepare. Oh well...Instead I went treasure hunting at the other sales in my area and found absolutely beautiful and unique things.  I went to a friend's Estate Sale and the Dominican Sisters Convent Flea Market. =)

Unfortunately a friend of my mother's passed away named Seal a while back. She was always such a happy bubbly woman and was a lady volunteer fire-fighter for over 40 years. Her family decided today was the day to have the Estate sale for her things. I knew her many years too so I ran to the sale to maybe pick something up that was hers. I was very succssful indeed. =)

These beautiful pins were Seal's. I love the big rose.

This lil figurines were her husband's mothers. On the back they say 1948. I couldn't pass them up!

This beautiful leaf dish was a wedding gift from 50 odd years ago that was never opened. It's going right on my coffee table!! =)

The following items I picked for a Grand Total of only $16 at the Covent Flea Market.

A Hummigbird ring holder. I love the bird it's so pretty!

I'm not quite sure where I'm going to put it, but this painting is Home Goods Perfect! =)

This curio cabinet will be a future DIY. I'm going to clean it up, paint it and who knows...

Isn't this one of those expensive bags I see in Hallmark??? I got it for $1...I might resell this at a larger price, probably not because It's just my colors....
What a saved day! Hopefully I'll get to see CJ later and then this day will be awesome!

Have you gone to any Tag Sales and Flea Markets lately?
Found any Treasure?

Don't worry baby...everything will turn out alright...

Where to start? This past weekend my mind was everywhere. Everything feels so real to me all of a sudden & I’m a lil taken aback by it. I have to sit & pause & look at the decisions I have made. Maybe it’s from the birthday. I sort of feel like I’ve been a child and now I got dropped into a 25 year old’s life. This odd feeling of “Ohhh so this is what’s happening uhhh can I really do this?” has been a long time coming. It’s not new, I just haven’t written about it. It might be a consequence of the auto-pilot mode I’ve been living in. Life happened fast all of sudden. Deadlines, relationships, mortgages, furniture, health, & moving on all at once. Working out yesterday, yes I did my 10-minute exercise tape, I remembered that it’s been almost a year since I had my gall bladder removal surgery & it’s been less than 3 months since my fibroid removal surgery from my right breast. I hurt a lil bit so I have to remember to take it easy. Taking it easy…..sounds like a foreign concept to me. I need to re-introduce myself to it.

What prompted this sudden I need take a step back was really this weekend. I did in an excel spreadsheet my daily expenses when I’ll have the condo. It’s going to be a lot of money. I scrimp & I save already & now I have too increase that by ten fold & it’s making me upset. I tried to get my mortgage lady on the phone to find out exactly what my payment would be but she apparently wasn’t in today. I’m freaking out that I won’t be able to afford this or my savings will disappear too quickly & that I don’t make enough money for this. I do have enough but I just hope this isn’t going to be more of a burden than a freedom. It’s a big step all of this.

However I did get some pieces at an estate sale & a thrift store. A little paint & some cleaning & I think these pieces will be very nice.

Retro Brass Magazine holder: $3

Canisters for Sugar, Flour, etc: $1 each

Metal Wall shelving for bathroom: $1

Me happy of my thrift store finds.

Getting these items & some others calmed me down a bit. I can get some things for cheap so I don’t feel like I’m drowning too too bad.

The other thing that hit me in the face was my relationship with CJ. We went to one of his family barbecues & I saw him playing with kids and his family was so welcoming but I felt very overwhelmed by seeing a possible future of mine. Overwhelmed is probably the wrong word but I just feel like we’ve skipped something before all these family things. We skipped time going by. Having our parents know each other already we skipped over the “How long should we date before we meet each other’s parents?” stage. We both got catapulted into this. This is a serious relationship & I’m ready for it I just want enough time to go by for it all so it naturally progresses instead of burning everything out. I don’t think that’s too much to ask?

It’s a lot but I’m need some time with it all. Tomorrow I’m going to try to keep to myself a lil & not hang out with CJ & just do some cleaning to think things over. I need to maybe bring things a lil back to my pace so I don’t feel so out of control. New week, new day, new thoughts…new dreams. You gotta chill out once in a while. I’m in definite need. Ever do that? Take a breather & just reflect? I’ll be doing that. Til Tomorrow…

Tagged & Tag Sales...Dun Dun Dun

The angels is a painting by Raphael.

So I got tagged by the sweet miss at Simply Colette yesterday and I must oblige =)

1. What books are on your favorite shelf?

Firstly I'm addicted to Vampire novels. So my favorite shelf has almost every book from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles Series(My favorite is the book, "Queen of the Damned") to Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake Series(My favorite is "Narcissus in Chains") to Kelly Armstrong's "Women of the Other World" series & Charlaine Harris's "Southern Vampire Novels"(The series True Blood is based on). I love to read. I also have a soft spot for the romantic novels from Lora Leigh.

2. What DVD's are on your favorite shelf?

Oh the Buffy the Vampire Season #2, Nip Tuck Seasons, Queen of the Damned, Walk the Line, The Abandoned, Mad Money, Simply Irresistible, No Reservations, Blade Runner, & Shaun of the Dead.

- I have probably over a 100 DVD's. I have so many Omg. Seriously my future house is gunna be DVD's & Books & trinkets...Who needs furniture? =P

3. What are your two favorite cookbooks?

Well, this is a tricky question. I'm ashamed to say that I personally don't own any cookbooks. I know it's pretty bad. I really need to start learning.

My favorite sources lately tho have been my lil pamphlets from the Technique Demos from Williams Sonoma. =) Hey, it's a start.

4. Select 1-3 recipes you would cook for guests.

Hmmmm........I would make a panini for my guests. My mom bought me an early Christmas present so I am a proud owner of one. =) I would make the panini with Italian bread, some swiss cheese, truffle oil, mushrooms, and a hardboiled egg on top. It's delicious.

Also I would make sure I had a fresh batch of Chocolate covered Strawberries. I love to make them.

5. What will we be drinking that's available.

Cocoa Cola or Hypnotiq or Crystal Head Vodka(It tastes like Vanilla).

And 10 Secrets just because:

1. I can catch about 25 pennies off my right elbow with my right hand.

2. I have a dream of being a real life actress. I want to be in a movie so badly.

3. I have an extremely messy bedroom all the time. I have OCD cleaning tendencies with my notebooks from school & how my hair is sometimes but my bedroom is never clean.

4. When I'm lonely I'll sleep with my stuffed animal tiger, which is actually an EXXON Gas station tiger I got when I was 3. Zimmerman Tiger Bob is his name. He's 21 years old and never asks for a drink, so I think I'll keep him.

5. I love to translate Latin, the Ancient Roman language. I can speak it, but I think the Pope would be the only one who'd understand.

6. When my parents aren't home I'll play the old Brittany Spears songs, Cristina Aguilera, Shakira or any of those other songs from the late 90's and rock out to them like they are the best songs ever.

7. I'm terrified of drowning. That's my greatest fear. I almost drowned when I was 5, I guess the fear of it never left me. I did teach myself to swim like no other tho, just in case.

8. In college when the teacher shut off the lights and made us watch a video or put on the projector I went right to sleep.

9. I think things happen for a reason. But I'd pay anything in this world to know why? I really wish I knew the future.

10. I believe in angels. There are miracles in this world that can't be explained. A few times in my life I must have had an angel because I don't know how I got through it or how it worked.

Yeah that was fun. I would tag the following lovely people. No pressure tho =).

Next to Heaven
The Constant Chill
They Call Me Lucy
Ocean Dreams
I Know, Right?
Life in Quotations

Today was a quiet day. I love Saturdays because I get off the Auto-Pilot. =) I didn't do much but I did go to a Tag Sale and a Thrift store and picked up these items I would like to share with you.

I can't believe it's a ceramic purse bank!! So cute!

Remember "Beauty & the Beast"? This is the lil tea cups and the lil boy cup named Chip! I found this in a thrift store and the girl only charged me $2 for them!!!! If I find anything Disney I gotta buy it.

The plates were just too pretty. I'm gunna wind up being Carrie Bradshaw with not one matching plate one day!! hehehe.

Okay I hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's rainy here in NY and very humid so I think I'm gunna stay in tonight and practice some sleep. Til Tomorrow...

A lil bit of this & a lil bit of that...Just a Tick & just a Tac

I wonder when the ice cream truck will stop coming around? I heard the lil chime just a lil while ago... It gave me a perfect idea for my zombie novel I'm writing. (There is wayyyyyy toooo many vampire & vampire slaying novels, ergo I want to write a zombie one.) The story is still in my head but it's slowly leaking onto paper. *Cough* (Blur is on purpose, sry) *Cough* =)

Well today my mom and I went Tag Sale hunting. It's one of my favorite past-times in the spring-fall. The weather was gorgeous, and the tease of the ice cream truck music was playin in the background. The thing tho that's really annoying at tag sales is that everyone always has old drinking glasses. Yes one day when I have an apartment of my very own I will need to buy glasses but right now, nope. Watch when I will need them no one will try to sale them. lol.

Anywho I did find some interesting things. I found these old pins, i love the one that is a lil clock and the lil birdie. Each pin was a whopping 25 cents each!!!! That is why I go to sales cuz ya never know when your going to get a deal. I also found this uber cute carousel horse trinket. That is my guilty expense. Silly lil trinkets. Hey, for a dollar, it'll get a cute home. Here they are:

I don't need any more new stuff because my bedroom is a serious catastrophe, but I was hooked by the low price. (Oh, btw, I literally outgrew my bedroom about 6 years ago so it's jam packed of trinkets.)

So I'm a pack rat that collects things. Well everyone has got to have hobby. =)

Maybe I'll use the pins for a collage? I think I might wear the lil clock pin some day.

Tomorrow I got my Williams Sonoma Demo on Bistro Cooking & French spices. Can't Wait. I hope everyone is having a fun weekend.

Just a few lil things...

A few things happened on the way to the forum today & one made me understand why I feel lost in my life.

The first thing is that I went to a tag sale and actually found a Rainbow Bright doll!! It made my day. Yes, a Rainbow Bright doll for only 50 cents. I was jumping for joy. I kinda remember the TV Show but I was a bit young. Here it is:

Yeah, the hair is a lil...um...like she put her hand in a socket, but for a 26 year old doll she's not in bad condition at all. I'll see if I can put a comb through it & straighten her out a bit more. But she's still smiling all the way.

Secondly I went at got my nails done at my lunch hour. That is my one girly luxury I will never give up. I don't go all out with the gel nails I just get a normal French Manicure & honestly I think I do it for the 30 second hand massage. I go to a place that knows me and ALWAYS TIP YOUR MANICURIST cuz then they are extra nice to you the next time and will sometimes add a lil glitter to the nails for free.

I think honestly just get it done at lunch time because I can ask one of the guys I work with the open the can of soda for me in the girliest lil voice.

Next, (Now this is Ridiculous.) I went to Fashion Figure to get check out the "Take an additional 50 off Clearance" racks. Well I found a pair of jeans and then the cashier said to me, "I wouldn't think you'd fit in this store.".......Now Fashion Figure is one of those stores with the bigger sizes. I'll admit, I'm a 155 pounds & wear a 36D bra & have about a 38 inch waist. I got curves too. I'm sorry I am not squeezing myself into a medium or a large in the teenie bopper stores. I need real clothes that I can breath in. I probably took her comment the wrong way, but it confused me. Soo the store I fit in, I'm questioned for going in there....That makes no sense to me.

Also for example the other day I was in this new lingere store and this kid came up to me that worked there and told me, "Just to let you know, we have Double D in the back of the store if you want." Now, at first I was kinda flattered that she thought I was bigger than I was but then I was like So how come you don't just put them out for people to see?? I'm not understanding how this new retail world is designed or who is training the employees & yes I've worked retail.

So I'm basically being told in the smaller stores dont worry we have the bigger stuff and in the bigger stores I'm told, "Shouldn't you be shopping in the smaller stores?". It just...What the hell? I think this is one of the reasons why I feel lost in my lil world. I worked retail for 10 years pretty much and never told someone we have bigger sizes unless they asked and NEVER told someone that I didn't think they should shop here.

So where do I shop now? huh? I dunno. I'm at a loss for words.

Finally I went to see the movie "All about Steve". It's quirky and its funny, but I'm glad I only paid $7 dollars to see it. There are absolutely hysterical parts but meh...she's better in other things. I enjoy Sandra Bullock alot more when she's not acting like she's on crack. "Miss Congenality" is like one of my absolute favorite movies & "Forces of Nature" & "Crash" and she's just always a very believable character in her movies. This one.... It kinda made me wanna watch "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" alot.

I actually got invited to go to the beach tomorrow with my other shopping owl so I gotta head to bed. The song tho of the night is, "I fall to Pieces" by Patsy Cline. That song is ever soo powerful.

Reminder for myself: Work on Self-Esteem. Okay. Later.

Oh just a few random lil things....

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. We are tonight's entertainment!" - the Joker, Dark Knight

Today I was sitting in the diner that's right across from my job and I realized, Woa I have bad A.D.D.. My mind races with ideas, thoughts, and dramas that occupy a newly 24 year old's life. My job, my future, my weight, that concert he invited me too before he did the damn missing persons report thing, my credit card bill, my depart from a 3 year ridicolousness friendship, my health, this year's halloween costume, that cute guy who is always outside my office building but I dont have enough nerve to talk to him, going to the gym, oh Ill have that piece of pie, Woa this bra from Victoria Secret is really nice, if i use the coupon then this will be cheaper...then the other people in the diner's convo's start leaking into my head...and just AHHH!!! My mind is like a TV set and accidentally the remote control fell between the couch cushions and the channels keep flipping by. Yeah thats a perfect analogy for it.

I dont have a problem going to a diner by myself, but maybe its cuz I'm an only child. Maybe I should start to have a problem with it. I'm starting to feel like those Match.com commercials where they are trying to be a wake up call of yeah your alone. But Im trying to convince myself of the truth so like that Evanescence song, "My Immortal" Even when he was in my life, I was alone along.

Anywho...I decided to take a few random pictures to show you what ran through my mind today. Yeah its pretty random.

Step #1: Buy some new Hair Clips to make yourself feel a lil girly. I bought these, they are actually Scunci brand and you can find them in Shop Rite or CVS:

Step #2: Realize Oh damn I have alot of these clips everywhere so buy some cute lil boxes to put them in. =)

Step #3: Well from Project Runway I was looking at my fashion sense lately and Yeah I apparently fall in love with 1 style and then buy it every color. So the step is to have the duel of shirts and see who wins. I think the black shirt won! What do you think?

Step #4: Hmmmm...maybe check out that lil thrift store in the next town at lunch hour and see perhaps what you can find. I was feeling down yesterday so I went to a thrift store in Westwood and found this miniature tea pot.

Step #5: I wonder if I could use that bottle vase my mom bought at a tag sale as a crown?? Yeahhh, my boss is on vacation and didn't tell me about it. I'm pissed so my mind went elsewhere...Here's the vase and yes it can be used as a crown.

Step #6: Don't forget those post-its from your desk of all the blog ideas, and story ideas, and your reminder not to think of him cuz hes not thinking of you notes. And yes....Dont ever stop thinking of your dreams. (aka..the unicorn...a friend(not Mr. Big) bought me this lil plush toy becuz apparently I picked it up and made the Awww sound and he had to buy it for me. Sometimes random people show you they care.)

I took these pics today. I am a hopeful future engineer, and just realized after a year how to properly use her camera. lol. Well my ADD is running and I'm going to try and get to the gym...But how I feel I know I'm gunna do a face splat like Bridget Jones' in no time. lol. Gotta run because I gotta be back for Project Runway.

I went to the ends of the earth and back...

Nah...I just went to New Jersey. hehe.

So today I did a bit of emotional shopping. There's a emotional eating (I am Very guility of that too) and then there is the emotional shopping. It happens, it's easier not to fight it. I reallly need to save money because I want to get an apartment. I actually somehow that I really have no reasonable clue don't have any student loans so I really just need to stop buying and saving (easier said then done.)... Well I'll start that tomorrow. lol.

So here is what I bought today and I gotta say that coupons and going to places when there is a sale makes me so freakin happy. Its my get out of jail free card for buying stuff cuz I just say "Oh it was on sale". I'm a ridicolous shopper because I can go in a store get 4-5 things and pay lil to nothing. For example today I got 2 pair of flat shoes(if you have high arches they are like gold) and 3 pairs of earrings from the same store for under 10 dollars. Hearing "Buy one get one free" is like eating the best cupcake in the world. The only thing is it's so easy to find the 1st shoe...not so easy to find the 2nd.

Here are the shoes and the earrings I got.

I'm soo loving these. The skulls are too cute.

These are from this store called billito. I tried to find a site but they just have a few stores. If your in New Jersey there is a couple of them. Very inexpensive and you can always find something lovely.

Then I went to Old Navy, and I btw those Super Manequinns in the commercials that talk are soo freaking creeeeeepy!!! Now Old Navy is weird...I never thought I would find something so pretty that wasn't clothes. I bought these magnets with flowers and they look straight out of the 70's Art Deco stuff. I had to pick them up because one day I will have my own refrigerator. They look old, I like it. For $3.50...I'll take it.

My mom said to me a lil while ago to start picking up stuff for the future. Hey, its something to look forward to. I'm actually obssessed with dreaming about my future place because somehow in my brain if i get an apartment my life will straighten out...I think? I dunno.

Then I went to Borders and picked up my copy of the Time Traveler's Wife. I LOVED the movie. I loved it. Erin rocks because she had tissues. I definitely want to write a blog about how much I loved it but I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I will do that later. I already read the prologue and I'm hooked. I cant wait to read it.

Oh i almost forgot. To start out this lil shopping spree I went to a tag sale with my mom. I love tag sales because you NEVER know what you will find. Like this lil porcleian doll. I sorta collect antiques but when it looks priceless and you get it for 2 dollars, its soo finding a home. Here it is:

I don't know when it is from but it's now gunna join my mess of lil trinkets. It reminds me of the white rose from Disney's Alice in Wonderland. That sings the last part when all the flowers sing.

I did also go to Michael's Craft store and picked up a few lil scrapbooking things to try to get myself in the groove of working, that stylish box in the beginning of this, and a cute lil bat stamp for halloween. My mom calls herself the "Frustrated Sculptor"...I'm definitely the "Frustrated artist" Once I get going I cant stop. But its the starting thats hard. The acceptance of things is hard. The ability to stop being in denial, that's hard too.

Here's the lil bat stamp.

I dunno sometimes you need to treat yourself. It does make you feel better at least for a little while.

I can't wait to go read that book so thats it from my lil shopping spree. =)
