What an Education...

It's back again or rather it never left...It's been snowing now the whole entire day here in lower New York...so what have I been doing? Cleaning, playing video games, and watching the movie, "An Education". The movie is not about the typical girl getting an education in school movie overcoming adveristy yada yada but an education in life. Meeting an older man & seeing a possible life ahead of her full of romance, music, fashion, status quo, and alot more. STAY IN SCHOOL btw readers under 18, but just know that sometimes your life begins after you've graduated high school & a complete different yet ever so real education will then begin.

It's so hard to pin point one or two things I've learned past high school but I began to truly live after it. My life did a 360 and who I really was broke free. I've gotten an education in how to really be there for a friend, how to survive a heartache, how to change a tire, how to save up enough money to finally live on your own, how to walk into a hospital fearless & know your going to be okay, how to pick up the phone to a long lost friend, how to fall in love with the right man, how to know when to leave a situation with a shred of dignity left, and learned how to decorate a cupcake. Just to name a few...

I don't know where I'd be without learning a few things along the road. But ohhh the things I have yet to learn. How to be a wife, how to be a mother, how to do the Apache, how to make a lemon meringue pie, or maybe how to drive a stick shift? Who knows who I'll become...

I do know one thing that if it doesn't stop snowing I'm going to go pretty stir crazy. Not Shining crazy but you can only clean your counter top so many times. hehe. We are supposed to get anywhere from 6 inches to 14 inches. At least it's almost the end of the week. I'm going to finish watching An Education. I really like it so far...

What Education besides school are you happy you learned?
I'd love to hear...

I've never heard of this movie, but I have to agree with you about feeling free after high school! College was a totally different experience for me, and I finally started feeling comfortable in my own skin. Always love your posts girlie xoxo, Annemarie

I've got that movie in my queue, maybe I'll give it a watch now.

I'm nothing like the person I thought I was going to be when I was 18. I'm glad of that, if I would have stuck to that plan I would have probably been a total d-bag by now.

It's good to think about the things that we are learning, so I like this questions! I'll have to think harder on it though...but probably about perseverance.

I'm sick of the snow too! We aren't supposed to get anymore until the weekend, but seriously, enough is enough. I hope it doesn't snow too much for you!

Personally, I've always felt that I have learned more from real life than I could ever have learned in school; however, it is a different type of learning - thus the reason why staying in school is important! Moving on...

...I feel that I have learned that standing up for yourself pays off in the long run, boys are the most confusing things ever, and...family and friends are essential in surviving everything! :)

Personally I've always felt like I've learned way more from life than school could ever teach me. I understand why school is important but life... there's not beating that when it comes to education.

I loved that movie! And I love your list of things you've learned.

As for me, some of m favorite things I've learned after school are:

1. How to completely love someone and let myself be open to them.

2. How to bake the perfect creme brulee.

3. How to hold a newborn baby without freaking out that I will drop it on its head, lol.

4. I learned how to knit, then forgot it, then learned it again, and am afraid that I am forgetting again :(

This is soooo true!! What you learn in the "real world" is so vastly different from the things you learn in school!

I loved An Education! Carey Mulligan looked amazing, the costumes were great, and it taught a really important lesson. I'm still in school and sometimes I wish I could leave it all behind, but this made me realize it's important not to take things for what they are, and to be thankful for what you have. http://thearcenciel.blogspot.com/

i think you learn so much more after you've left school - I think that's when real life begins when you have to work everything out for yourself and your trying to make a way for yourself in the world.

get choice of film though, really did love watching it.

I love that film! It's one of my favorites. :)

I think school is incredibly important, but I also think etiquette needs to be reinforced upon kids these days. It's disheartening how many times I have given an expensive gift and never recieved a thank you card. Or seen young kids be SO disrespectful to their elders. It's just intolerable! :S So I'm glad I was taught to respect others because it lets me respect myself. :P

School is great but you learn so much more from experience and actually living. I keep meaning to watch that movie, thanks for reminding me.

I have been wanting to see that movie for a while. I agree, that most of what I learned about living I learned outside of school.
