I'd love to have a field of Sunflowers...so I made one!

Well thank you everyone who commented on my last post. People have to get their stories out there so maybe just maybe it can help someone one day. =) Back to business today.  I had my third installment of my mother’s Cake Decorating Class & Ohhh it was such a delight!! Those lil sunflowers up there are actually made of icing & Oreos. My mother’s favorite flower is an sunflower. Can’t you tell? So this was our lesson plan tonight.

It looks complicated but really honestly it’s one of the easiest cupcake tricks we’ve done so far. The roses were harder to master. All you really need is some butter cream icing in yellow & green, icing metal tips, cupcakes, an oreo, and some patience! Here are the steps! You can write it out but instead I'll just show you! =)

There are actually Youtube videos about how to make these Cupcake Sunflowers too. I'm a lil shocked that I'm doing so well in this class. For those of you who don't know me or are new to my blog, I can't cook very well so I used to go to the Williams Sonoma Demos. Well this is a whole new ball game. I'm loving decorating these lil wonders. It's actually very relaxing. One thing I'm really loving in this class is that my mom is letting us do all the work. Sometimes in classes your just talked at & showed things but you don't get to do them yourself. All the above creations I did tonight. I'm very proud of myself!

Today is just a small post because I'm absolutely exhausted! Tomorrow CJ & I are going to a filming of a Comedy Central Presents show in NYC. They needed seat fillers so we got free tickets! Hopefully we get to go & get in! =) I'll continue tomorrow with more 30 Days of Awesomness! Til tomorrow...

Quick Question too: Are you a Cupcake person or does another tastey treat make your mouth water?

These look AMAZING! Great job! Sunflowers are my fave too so these really make me smile. And while I do love cupcakes, I'd have to say that icing is really what makes my mouth water!! Yum!

I'm not really a sweets person. When I do indulge I like just plain ol chocolate ice cream.

I have no ability to frost anything, but these are lovely! Keep it up!

Just read your post from 2 days ago and thank you so much for sharing your struggle on this blog. You're acting as a great spokeswoman for woman's health right now. Women need to be informed and vigilant when it comes to breast health so thank you for the reminder.

Also read your time travelers wife recommendation, that's one of my favorite novels as well! Although it wasn't so personally revelatory for me, I became completely enraptured in the story too. What I loved was how it was a unique love story (her concept of time travel is so confusing, but brilliant), but at the end of the day, it was really about a couple whose love was so powerful it could transcend everything else or try to. And they were really well formed characters, I loved how Niffenegger put in quotidian details like their favorite music and things most authors find too trivial to bother with. They made both Clare & Henry feel more real despite their insane circumstances. Anyway, a really moving book and when I reread it, it was almost more depressing than the first time.

I am a cupcake bandit. I swear, it's a good thing I'm not taking a class like that or I would come out weighting about 20 pounds more than I do now.

I heart cupcakes! This post was really cool. Loved how you showed us all how to make a sunflower cupcake! There is a place not too far from where I live that is a shop for gourmet cupcakes. I am going to have to go up there soon. Hope that you enjoy the show and that you have been well. :o)
