Old Habits die Hard...Old Hobbies too...

I guess I have a problem of letting things go. I do hold grudges; keep secrets, and when I see a beautiful paper napkin from a place I will take one as a memento. In my 25 years I’ve actually accumulated a great deal of random lil trinkets and things. I can’t throw away ticket stubs or newspaper articles either. I don’t know; somehow I think that if I throw it away I might lose the memory…Hearing that must be a “Clean House” nightmare I imagine. Before tho I start taking the next steps in my life I have to de-clutter and downsize but I want to make sure I don’t lose one lil thing.

I hear about scrapbooking all the time but I just can’t get into it. The projects seem too big and it’s a pain in the ass getting all the pictures. I’m going to start doing things on a much SMALLER scale. I’m in the middle of preparing for a Tag Sale in my condo development that I’m in desperate need of and in the search for things I found a journal. It’s not very big, about medium size and the cover is beautiful. It’s just big enough to hold tickets, movie stubs, a small article mention or a cut-out or a sticker or something that I want to keep. This way it won’t be a box of stuff just a lil book.

The creative gears are turning. I don’t have enough room or time to make a mood board or file things for safe keeping so I’m going to try and place things in the journal with the hopes that one day I’ll have a lil treasure chest of memories. I could keep a whole playbill from a show but why? It’s just info I don’t need anyway…so I’ll cut out the things I want and play with the rest. I’ve always loved making collages anyway so this isn’t new to me; it’s more like a return.

I’m going to start off simple and I imagine it will evolve with time. Maybe do some drawings in between or quotes or phrases or I don’t know. It woll be my lil memory book. I hope I stick with it. I actually have kept up my planner which is one of my New Years resolutions. I feel so organized and it’s really helped finding a balance with it all.  This lil book I’m starting might eliminate some clutter and become an enjoyable side project. Well let’s see how it goes…

Do you Scrapbook or How do you keep your lil Mementos?
I’d love to hear…

Cute!! Definitely start scrapbooking! It's so fun! I used to do it, I have forgotten to do it, but I do save momentos and things, hopefully I will fill up another book soon! I have a bunch from my past and they are SO fun to look through on a rainy day or when I am having a hard time. They kind of remind me of who I am :)

My memories come to light usually with friends over drinks. The whole past comes rushing back for some reason.

I think using a pretty journal (like that one!) as a little memory book is a wonderful idea!

I love the idea of scrapbooks, but like you, I just do not have the passion or energy to immerse myself into such a big project. It took my mom months to make a scrapbook for my high school graduation present. It's incredible the amount of work and time that goes into something that seems so simple.

But who knows? Maybe one day when you have a lot of time on your hands, you will be able to take all the trinkets you saved and make a really beautiful memento with them! :)

I have a huge big memeory box - well actually there's one and a half boxes filled mostly with old gig tickets, university tags, things from newspapers and letters and all they are doing is just sitting in this box but they reflect different memories and parts of my life. I have no idea what to do with it - because they are a part of me and make up who I am. But with me hopefully moving its like what do I do with them! I guess its either with photographs because you can just easily post or scan them. I think i might have to get a photograph album and stick some of my random things inside that and just keep and bring that over with me. It would be a shame to keep and loose them over here when they've been with me so long. Or am I unnecessarily hoarding? I have no idea!

Awww...this is such a sweet idea, Melanie - I love it!

I don't scrapbook myself, but have always wanted to give it a whirl. It's such a fantastic way to preserve memories! :)

I have a whole box full of stuff dating back about 10 years. It's not a huge box, just an overfilled show box. I like keeping things.
I do have a ticket stub book and I write who I went to see the movie with. Other than that, I can't really scrapbook. I am just not creative enough.
