Excuse me…Did someone turn up the Heat??

Wow it got hot all of a sudden here in NY…Whew! And not just hot, almost a 100 degrees hot…just what I needed. I love those hot days where there is not a lot of humidity and you can take a quick walk at lunch to enjoy the beautiful heat AND you can wear a new aqua dress you got for a steal 2 weeks ago in Mandees. Hehe. I’ve never been a dresses/skirt girl but yes the times they are a changing… I will never give up my primarily black wardrobe but a few bright & different colors have popped in there. You need to have that lil piece of flare in your life to make you smile, even if it’s just one button. Today wearing that dress made me smile all day long and I love the top of it!

Mid-week and already the weekend plans are arising and the to-do lists getting larger. I wish this hot beautiful weather would switch with the rain heading straight for us. I wish there was a real Weather Man so I could marry him and feed him sweets so he’d be in a good mood each day so we’d all have sun & fun. Oh well…

Thankfully the air conditioning is on full blast. My mind keeps wandering to the future summer months and how much I wish I could go on vacation. I lost my job back in March and immediately got a new one, so the I’m basically chained to my desk until next April. People keep asking me why I got a new job so soon like it was a bad thing and inquiring why I didn’t take a break and live off of unemployment for a while but honestly falling into complete panic mode about my condo & health insurance made me act fast without wasting anytime. Sheer luck helped too. I used a job agency and walked in the right day where an opening had just surfaced. I see myself as so lucky to have a job and so grateful. I will have two personal days up for grabs come August but it’s going to be a long summer.

Cj, on the other hand, has 4 weeks vacation but he’s worked in the same place for 6 years. He deserves it and really should take a vacation. He’s juggling three positions and is really feeling the crunch of it. I’ve tried to not be an extra stress on him lately and be as agreeable as possible to help him out but it’s not working. He is reaching a boiling point and I think I’m literally going to have to force him to take time off of work because he is turning into a stressed & agitated workaholic. We were going to plan on going somewhere but that’s out so he really should use his time and relax. I don’t know what else to say to him about it. He’s explaining to me how tired he is and I keep telling him use his time off when things get slower, but it’s almost like he feels guilty for using the time he earned. Who knows…that man can be such a mystery to me sometimes....

One more day down…two to go to the weekend. Can't Wait...

Do you have any exciting plans for this summer?
I’d love to hear…

Sounds like me on the workaholic area and 6 years for me too in the same place. The weather here in NYC is finally warm, after that long ass winter, but I'm already getting tired of the excess heat. Plans though call for vacation in the Baltics in August.

Cute dress!! Dresses are the best especially when you find them at such a great price. Surprisingly, the weather in AZ has been amazing.... hot, but not crazy hot. Bad thing has been the wind... We have a huge wildfire happening in the NE part of our state and the wind is not helping. August 25th-September 4th my hubby and I will actually be in NY for the World Police and Fire Olympic Games. :0)

I think a few weeks of break from work would be great for CJ. Its always good to relax a bit and recharge, isnt it? We are going to have a busy summer with work. Summer months and Christmas time is always very busy for Balazs so we will try to take a litle trip to Rome sometime late September. I hope! Kisses, darling

I personally think it's fantastic you landed a job right away. It shows your work ethic and mad interview skillz. ;) Plus, the less holes in your resume, the better you look for future opportunities.

You nailed it, Melanie!

I can't wait for the weekend too! :)

It is so hot here too. On Tuesday when I was driving home from class it was 112 on the bank's sign when I was driving by! It was in the sun and the hottest time of day... but good god! It is going to be one hellishly hot summer. :(

I have to tell you that you're truly lucky to have found something so quickly, though I agree with not having vacation time right away. My husband went from four weeks vacation (he was at his job for 10 years) and was about to get laid off, yet somehow landed a job before the lay off - however it relocated us to Florida - we're happy though! Now he has to wait six months before taking time off and sadly his last vacay was in November (though living in FL, every weekend is like a vacation at the beaches, etc.) I, on the other hand was laid off *gasp* in Sept. of 2009 and have yet to recover and the more time that passes (like 400 resumes and cover letters, a whopping 4 horrendous interviews since then) the more difficult it is to find something. I am certain I will be out of work for the rest of my life. It's so scary. PS You look so cute in that dress! Hang in there and remember the many unemployed peeps with college degrees who can't even get receptionist jobs because it's an employers market right now.

Well, this summer I'm going to NY! And it seems to me that's where you're from? Which part may I ask? I'll be in Manhattan so if you have any recommendations to places I'd love to hear!

Have a great day!

it's so hot here now too, like even opening windows at night doesn't cool it down, but I'm not complaining, too many minus 15C days have gone by since I want a hot day!

Joe keeps telling me how humid and sticky it is in Detroit so I feel for you! Sounds crazily warm. I think we had a few days of summer in the spring and that's it - it seems to have vanished!
