You HAVE to Start Somewhere...

You have to put your lil playing piece on the gaming board and roll the die. I have my FIRST Interview tomorrow at 12:15pm for an agency. An agency however isn't the most guaranteed thing but it's a start. I'm going to put on my blazer, have my resume in hand, and walk in like I can land any job there. It's a free agency & she only has full-time positions with benefits so this should be a step in the right direction. Wish me luck!

I'll admit it tho, I'm really nervous. My stomach is doing mini flips right now. But I have to go. *Remember to breathe*

For almost anything you have to take that chance! I remember when I was sitting on the bar stool & a man asked me out after only talking to me for 15 or so minutes that I had to say, "Yes, I'll go out with you!". When I picked what a colleges I would have to go to I HAD to open that door and walk through. On this new job I have to answer that call and go for those interviews. No, sometimes is just not an answer.

Have you started anything new lately that you just HAD to put that first step in the door or make that call or make that commitment?

Hearing stories has always taught me something...I'd love to hear yours & learn. =)

You are going to be amazing. Good luck. :)

I'm use to it now. I'm the first to introduce me and whoever I'm with, first to ask for help or directions, usually the first to make a move in anyway. It will be great for your confidence.

Last January I was let go from the job that I'd been with for 5 years. I felt so lost... I hadn't interviewed in 5 YEARS. It was really scary at first but I took a deep breath and just went with it.

Good luck with your interview lady!

Is your resume scented? (haha--jk--Legally Blonde...) I send you good employment vibes. I don't like to start new things. It makes me nervous. But I know it's necessary for advancement. Good luck, kind friend.

Good luck on the interview! I'm in the process of job hunting again, so I'm definitely familiar with the nerves.
But yes, it'll be totally worth it in the end.. keep breathing!! :)

Well I committed to cleaning up the place, painting new flooring and pictures and such. Interviews are easy the more you do.

As a dance teacher I start new jobs all the time. I would say every 8-12 months I meet a new employer, new co workers, new expectations, etc. Imagine your first day of work 20 times over and over again. It's scary every time but I just have to know that all things happen for a reason.

You'll do great.

Good luck! Lately I made a giant leap from pen and ink to screenprinting. It's something completely different and I'm terrified of failing, but I have to give it a try!

Good luck girl!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you ;) You have the right attitude and I am sure you will get the position! Will you show us what you end up wearing to the interview?! Yes I totally have to make the first step in getting my jobs, almost everyday! I am a freelancer and my work is dependent on my ability to put myself out there. I had sent my resume to this really big costume designer that I wanted to work for and never heard a response, then one day i was walking down the street and I saw her!! I followed her for one block, trying to decide if I should approach her or not, getting nervous, feeling sick, and then just deciding - "hey sometimes in life you have to do outlandish things to obtain outlandish goals" - so I went up to her and we chatted, a week later she hired me ;)

Good luck! I have faith in you, Melanie!

I've not done anything like that in a long time, but I'm embarking on new adventures now and within the next year I'm hoping to have done just that completely on my own. I'm trying to become my own boss and immersing myself in my favorite pasttime - shopping! I want to open my own boutique after we move, I just have to be patient and wait for that first part to happen, then I can move forward!

I hope the interview went well! I'm going to have to be doing that in the next few months. I've been living off unemployment, which has allowed me to write and start an online art shop on Etsy.com. That has to be the biggest risk I've taken lately. Putting my art out there for sale was something I never thought I would do and it's nerve-raking because you worry no one will like it and art is so personal that it's hard when no one buys your stuff. I realize times are hard and people probably don't want to spend money on something like art, but I know times won't always be hard. We'll all get to where we need to be in the end.
