I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Seen these Movies!! I Need to Fix this ASAP!!

It’s dawned on me lately that there is tons of movies I HAVEN’T seen and they are the important ones that everyone should see at some point. For example, I’ve never seen “The Princess Bride”. I know, guilty as charged. *Hanging my head down low*. I’ve also never seen even a moment of “Breakfast with Tiffanys”, even though I bought it for my mom for Christmas. I guess these movies are just not on TV enough or I just missed them.

Now I’ve seen a lot of the usual “MUST SEE” movies: Edward Scissorhands, Clerks, Donnie Darko, Gone with the Wind, High Fidelity, Grease, When Harry Met Sally, Steel Magnolias, Sophie’s Choice, Westside Story, The Godfather Triology...etc.

BUT others like Empire Records, Amelie, Annie Hall, Rebel without a cause, From Here to Eternity, Dr. Zhivago, An Affair to Remember…have escaped my viewing pleasure.

I’ve decided that each week I’m going to watch a Classic movie that I haven’t seen. Whether it be recent or old-age cinema I need to see these films because I feel like I’m honestly missing out. This is where YOU come in:

What is your top 5 “MUST SEE” movies?

I’d love to hear.

What should I watch first?

I might also do a poll on the my sidebar each week to pick next week’s Movie! I’m really excited about this so after I watch the movie I’ll do a small review in case you too haven’t seen it! Okay let’s get the movie rolling… Take 2: “ACTION”

One of my New Year's resolutions this year is to watch the AFI's top 100 movies but I really don't agree with all their picks. I need to come up with my own list. But my top 5 would probably be Back to the Future, The Wizard of Oz, Forrest Gump, The Princess Bride, and Casablanca.

You should definitely watch West Side Story, Roman Holiday, Rear Window, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, and All About Eve.

I haven't seen the movies on your list of ones you've seen, and I haven't seen most on your list to see lol! Teenage horror, drama, and comedy, all about it (product of the late 90s high school scene ;).

I highly recommend Empire Records. Last summer I ran into Ethan Embry three different times in Vancouver. Never had the guts to talk to him though lol.

My need to see five are:
Dirty Dancing
Pretty Woman
Gone With the Wind
Westside Story
Casablanca

All of which are in my Netflix queue!

P.S. I'm hosting a giveaway, be sure to check it out :)

Yeah, you need to get on this! Start with Amelie or The Princess Bride. They're both super awesome, without a doubt. Empire Records is one of my fav's from my teenage years - I wanted to be in their circle of friends. But I watched it recently and it was so cheesy, so you might think the same thing. Annie Hall is also superb. But you're not alone here, Mel. I've never seen Sophie's Choice or From Here to Eternity or An Affair to Remember. Recently, AMC (I think?) did a tribute to the Oscars and have played all of the winners. We've recorded the older ones so I think I'll start to check some off my list too! Happy watching!

Omg there ARE a lot of amazing films you haven't seen, it seems!! Hmmm...I'm kind of a movieaholic, haha, so I could literally list dozens of movies that I think you MUST WATCH. :P

But, here is my list of top five classic movies I think everyone should see. I apologize if you have seen them:

1. Casablanca
2. To Kill a Mockingbird
3. The Graduate
4. Vertigo
5. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Have fun! I can't wait to see which ones you decide to watch. xoxo

I have actually met a lot of people that have no seen "The Princess Bride". I loved it. My top 5 probably would have to be (in random order):

-Big Fish (based of the book)
-Amelie (which everyone has shared)
-Everything is Illuminated (Elijah Wood Stars in it)
-Short Order Cook(its a Foreign film, acquired taste. Netflix it!:))
- Love Actually

This goes on and on and on. I do however need to watch "Breakfast at Tiffany's".

Princess Bride is one that also eludes me. A side bar would be so fun and awesome. And then you could watch the movie and review them for us. So fun!

I'm with you. I've never seen any Star Wars, the Godfather, or most of the classics. But then again, I'm not so much a movie person . . . my attention span is pathetic!

There's tons of those I've never seen too. Me and my sort of boyfriend were talking about this last week as he was naming loads of films I'd never saw as his favourites (like "apocalypse now", which I've never watched) and I said I wanted to watch more proper old movies as I haven't really. I've saw Casablanca, which I loved, but that's one of the few black and white films I've saw. I want to see more of those.

I don't really feel qualified to tell you what films you should watch, since I am just as bad as you. Possibly worse!

You MUST watch Empire Records though. It is awesome. Also, have you ever saw Mallrats? I LOVE that film, and it reminds me a lot of Empire Records.

Amelie, Princess Bride, The Wizard of Oz, The Shining and One Flew Over The Cuckoo Nest. Happy viewing!

ohh you must see The Princess Bride - it's SO good! Some random movies I like is The Count of Monte Cristo, Ice Castles, The Thorn Birds, and it's intense but Schindler's List is a must see.

Like Water For Chocolate
Lost In Translation
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
The Girl Who Played With Fire
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets nest

I try to watch at least one classic a week, too. Lately I've been getting into a lot of foriegn films.

Rebel without a cause is overrated. Watch some old Brando instead like On the Waterfront of The Wild Ones.

Definitely check out Citizen Kane, one of the most epic and brilliant movies ever.

Bubba Ho-Tep is a modern classic that is so weird but so completely works. Look it up, it's wild.

All I've got for now but I'll let you know if I come up with anything else.

I like this idea. There are plenty I haven't seen either, like the Godfather trilogy (I know. I have no idea how I've gone so long without at least seeing the first one) and I own Gone with the Wind and never watched it. Yeah, that's pretty sad.

Princess Bride, Amelie, and the Fifth Element are must-sees in my book. They're some of my favorites. The Breakfast Club is a good 'classic'. I know there are others I just can't think of any at the moment.
