That lil penguin in that picture has NO clue how much I envy him right now!! I live in New York state about 30 minutes outside New York City & we have been in the midst of a heat wave that is driving us all nuts. It's been near a 100 degrees for the past 3 days. Don't get me wrong, I love summer because there is just so much to do in the summer & the ice cream, the picnics, the long walks, & the cute lil tan lines that always have a story...but I hate sticking to myself in places that really shouldn't be sticky.
I got into work today early because thankfully they have air conditioning that is working. Some parts of where I live have power outages so I'm really lucky. I feel like a mess tho. I don't fair well in extreme heat My hair is so frizzy it looks like I put my finger in a socket, my skin is oily, my asthma is acting up from the dryness of the air conditioning, my brain feels like mush, I'm trying to drink alot of water to stay hydated so I'm running to you know where every 5 minutes, AHHHH!!!!!! I really want to just dump a whole bucket of ice water on my head right now.
Is there anywhere that it's just like 75 degrees with no humidity all year round? If there is I want to live there. I love New York, but this heat wave is beating us up. Please Mr. Sun give us a lil break. Just a lil bit? I'll give you a cupcake! lol.
Today should be a nice day, CJ is coming over to dinner with my parents. They like him alot. I'm so relieved. So So relieved. My new favorite thing to do is listen to him play the guitar while I write my zombie book. I'm going to write about my novel later today. I gotta get back to work before my bosses come in so I thought I'd leave you this song from the past. Smashing Pumpkins - "Walkin on the Sun". Remember it? hehe. Stay cool everyone!!

I feel you on the heat wave. It has been toasty here in the midwest too. It can be so hard to keep a chic exterior when so much is going wrong! I try a lot of updos to combat the friz.
I know what you mean!! I can't wait until this weekend when it's supposed to go down to 80 something at least. I went out during one of those 100 degree weather & I was melting! haha
We hit double digits here yesterday too. This heat is horrible, and I say this having grown up in Florida! You can actually see the heat when you step outside.
Im wanting a little taste of fall now.
I know that's HOT with all the humidity, etc. Think cool thoughts. I hope it chills soon.
hope it cools down, the Midwest isn't too fun either right now, but not half as bad! wowza!
Uffff I feel the heat too...and its getting little much....So lovely that your parents like your boyfriend...Looks like you will have a great evening:) Enjoy sweetie and see you soon:)
Muah
We've just sweltered through a heatwave here, so I feel your pain. Hope it cools off soon. xx.
Oh, I will not complain anymore!! Yikes, I know what you mean about the frizzy hair and oily skin. When it gets hot and humid, I am the same way. Hope it cools off for you!
Ooh, Melanie I love, love, love the way that you and CJ have fallen into this quiet, comfortable coziness - him playing the guitar, you working on your zombie book. It is just perfection - makes me want to go out and find a cute boy of my own!! :)
YOu want to live in Santa Barbara, perfect year round! I'm dreaming of the day we can afford to buy a house there and I can move back to my stomping grounds. But I envy you living in NY, it's far better than LA!
Another suggestion, The Bay Area in Northern California, fantastic weather!
I live in Silicon Valley and we have great weather year round. The cost of living is high, but you know what that is like, living so close to The City.
It finally cooled off here, but we had a week or so of near 100 degree temps. Not fun. Hope you have a great dinner tonight!
Yah, we are all walkin' on the sun the last few days. I' love Smash Mouth they are so under estimated such a sing along concert.
We have the same hot hot hot weather here! I hope you start to feel better, drinking lots of water is what I'm doing too so bathroom visits are pretty excessive lol.
HAHAHA i just read katy mary's comment and it's true- sooo many bathroom visits! seriously this heat wave is nuts. couldn't wait to get into work today for the a/c, too!
when i was just home in ohio we had a heat advisory, i couldn't believe it. yuck.
it's so nice out here, perfect temp I would say
KEEP COOL!!!
It's been a bit uncomfortably warm in Glasgow too - not REALLY hot but when I walk 45 minutes to work at 8 in the morning, jacket-less (sometimes in the rain) and by the time I get to work am dripping in sweat (sorry, women "glow" don't they? Not sweat) with my make-up melting on my face, I wish it would cool down just a little!
I'm reinforcing what Alisa said: YES, there is a place that's temperate all year round . . . San Francisco! Seriously, it's cool and breezy and sunny pretty much year-round (we have a "heat wave" in the late summer, but it never goes above the 80s and it's ALWAYS cool at night). The weather is perfect here!!
smash mouth! I totally forgot about them haha, I love their song "All Star" still. that's cool that your folks like your bf, its a good sign, and yeah this heat wave on the east is annoying eh?!?! I think it will last till the weekenend and then it should be back to normal, I do hope so! and yes I would love to live somewhere temperate all year around too :D
I totally understand what you mean about the heat. It has been so hot here. It's suffocating me.
