All in a day's time...

In the movie, One Fine Day, with George Clooney & Michelle Pfifer, these two strangers find themselves doing everything imaginable, where so many things go wrong as well as right in just one single Busy as Hell day, while somehow keeping a PG rating. Well that's why it's just a movie. I, however, would curse at least 10 times so it would have to be rated R or NC-17. lol.

I'm mentioning this movie because it seems that I'll have absolutely nothing to do for days, except refresh my blogger dashboard. BUT then the list starts piling up...I'm totally okay with that, I like being busy, it's just I wish it all wasn't things to do in One single day...

For example...

I will be meeting my platform friend this Saturday. I found out about the party this past Sunday night. I guess it was a little pre-mature to think that was the only thing I'd be doing this weekend. On Saturday night, I've been invited to a house-warming party where my ex might be (I'm not happy about that), my cousin is having a birthday party, & one of my best friends'cousins whom I know is having a birthday party........Yeah, I wish I could pull a "Multiplicity" Michael Keaton moment where I clone myself 5 times over. The platform friend's house is an hour away, I could go to that for a little bit at 7pm, drive home, go to the house warming party around 11pm, stay a lil, then go to my cousin's thing late late. But can I do it all in high-heels, 1 tank of gas, and 10 degree weather hoping my hair will stay straight??

That above is just Saturday. Tomorrow will be another one of these "Let's see what else we can throw on top of Melanie days". The only dental appointment I could get is tomorrow morning to resolve my toothache I still have. Then I have to bring in my car to the repair shop to do the "Maintenance Required". Go to work at 1pm, then I have my job work party after work at a Sports Bar(I'm not thrilled but its 5 guys, 1 girl...I'm out numbered on the voting on a place). Hopefully I can get my car back somewhere in before this Party?!? AND I have my Writers group tomorrow night at 7pm. Perhaps I can eat a few hot wings & sneak out of the work party early so I can make a little bit of my writers group. That to me is the more important event to be at. All of this in one day, hopefully headache free(I usually get headaches at the dentist).

Ya know, I'm starting to understand why cute little parrots pluck out their feathers. I truly do.

Somehow, someway I hope I get almost everything done, & try to make a cameo appearance when I can. I'm small and I can only stretch myself so far. I will get to meet Mr. Platform tho...that's a definite. I'm an Alice in Wonderland fan too, but didn't know I'd become the White Rabbit going, "I'm late, I'm late" running around. Next week I'll try to be Alice or the Mad Hatter. That'd be a cool change of pace for Christmas.

Ever find yourself with so much to do and just not enough time in the day?? How do you fit it all in?

It's so cold tonight in New York. Winter is definitely here. The comfy 3 blankets I have on my bed are going to be working over-time. I gotta head to sleep to get this show on the road tomorrow. Major New Years Resolution will have to be made in 2010. MUST GO ON VACATION!!. =P

"Last Christmas I gave you my heart. The very next day, you gave it away. This year to save me from tears, I'll give it to someone special..."

Looks like you're going to be running around like a chicken with your head cut off. Haha. Okay, sorry for the gross visual. :P
Yikes, those two days are going to be INSANE for you. Good luck! I have a feeling you are going to pull it all off, even though it might be a little stressful. But you know, once you do pull it off, the high you get from a crazy busy day will be all worth it. You will be really happy, proud, and amazed at yourself for getting everything taken care of in so little time. :)

I feel like this a lot with work. I'll have an interview in the morning, lunch with my dad, write the story at the office, go to another interview and then another interview, go back to the office and write those stories, meet Rian for dinner, rush to a city council meeting and have to run home to write that council meeting story to e-mail to my editor before crashing in bed by midnight. It's a challenge!

You can do it! Just take one thing at a time and have a blast!

Hi Melanie! So much to do yet so little time... that's so normal. What do I do? I've learned to say NO to most party invites. It'll really take a toll on my body and I'm not that young anymore.

I'm glad that despite your hectic sched, Mr Platform is still on the list.

I used to, but now I pick one thing and politely decline the other invites. I learned you're never truly in the moment because you're always worrying about being on time for the next event.

I have those - I generally decide sleep is optional during them.. Kate x

Melanie, I realize I can't do everything, so I don't try it.

I like to avoid anyplace my Ex gos, he thinks he can fuck me whenever he's in the mood since he had me before, and it's uncomfortable being around him.

I love that song, it's one of my favorite Christmas songs! I do have days where I have so much to do and not enough time so I always prioritize what I do so the important things are done first and so on.

You get extra points for throwing in a picture of the White Rabbit! <3 But I understand what you mean.

I have been home for break, and I did not expect to be doing a lot my first week home from school... But... This whole week I have been going. I am glad it is not all piled in one day (bless you) but it's not fun not getting much of a break during the week either.

Good luck to you.

Wow...you sound busy! I would say prioritize. Time management can be achieved here!

So it sounds like you'd rather not bump in to the ex. Could you skip the house warming and maybe send them a gift/card? It sounds like this platform guy might be pretty cool...maybe since this is the first time ya'll have met it'd be nice to spend the time with him & his friends.

It sounds like you need advil and a cordless straightener :) And damn it sounds cold! I'm in Texas and 40 degrees is bitter cold to us haha.

I think the most important things sounds like platform guy and then your cousin's deal. The guy you want to meet and family come first before stupid ex's!!

I really liked your Alice in Wonderland reference too btw...

You'll be okay...amidst the whirlwind :) And yea...one tank of gas should be fine!

Wow. It does sound like you've got quite a lot. I'm sure you can do it all. I've had those weeks and weekends myself. It seems that more and more things get piled on. Even if they are fun things, there are still so many of them. Good luck.

Yeah, I've felt like that this week at work. I'm officially calling it hell week; and it's not a happy busy, like having too many parties to go to. I truly wish I had that problem lol. And I would not want to go to a holiday party where I would have to see an ex....

I love the Jimmy Eat World song btw :)

It is so super hard to fit everything in, I am feeling a tad stressed these days. I know that I can only do what I can do though, and if I give it my best shot then I have to be happy. Hope meeting your friend goes well and that your tooth tale turns into a happy one!

P.S. there is going to be a happy award waiting at my blog world for you!

If I don't have 100 things to do...nothing ever gets done. Unfortunately, it's so difficult to motivate when it's 20 degrees outside. ugh. good luck doing everything!! :) xx

I love this movie! I make lists to try to remember what I need to do each day, week, etc. I love that xmas song too!

ahh! that's intense! Whenever these days happen to me I usually look so stressed out that everyone can tell. so ironically in attempt to try and please everyone I just become a total bummer to everyone around me

from reading this I'd say you need to skip one of these and the ex party sounds like the best to forsake. you don't even want to run into the guy and you could just send a card or something. everyone recognizes its a busy time of year, so I think your absence wouldn't seem malicious. besides you need to see where the platform boy goes, so I'd spend the time with him instead of rushing to an ex

Oh, honey. I ALWAYS find myself with too much to do, and not nearly enough time to do it. With me, it's mostly self inflicted. I'm too artsy/craftsy for my own good. I say "Yeah. Sure!" to pretty much everything/one. And I work work work, but I'm never done done done.

Oy vey. One thing at a time, deery lu. That's what I keep telling myself, anyway.

I am extremely busy as well. But today was like hell, because the trains wouldn't leave because of all the frost on the tracks...I think the Train company was over reacting because there was no snow and ice at all. I finished work at 7pm but came home at 10:30. The actual travel time is only 25 minutes......

oh i totally feel you. i hope you get everything done.

I totally hear you on the lack of time to do so many things at once or trying to accomplish so much in so little time. You'll be fine I'm sure, it won't always be that busy, unless you are in NY. Now, if you are then.... forget what I said.

JK

*new reader here, by the way. Nice post.
