Ohh when I go to dreamland tonight it is going to be a happy sleep. I know I was supposed to write about a few other things today but I just had such a great day that I HAD to write about it!

Firstly it was Pay Day!! Yeah! My mortgage hasn't started yet so I can still enjoy actually have some money in my bank account. February 1st I start my budget hardcore. Oh yeah...I have a lil time left to buy some things.

Well at work I got a mini treat because I discovered that I won Diana over at Express-O's Heart Necklace Giveaway from Fox House!

I can't wait to get this necklace! It's beautiful! I love the clasp & it's so different! Thanks Diana for running the giveaway! Your a sweetheart!

Then I went to my parent's house for a minute & found out my Mom found me an Record Album Frame. Yes I do collect Old records but only special ones...like the Soundtrack from "The Graduate" with Dustin Hoffman.

 

It has all the Simon & Garfunkel songs from the movie, especially "Mrs. Robinson". How I got this you might ask? PURE FLUKE! I found it at a garage sale for a $1 about 3 years. It's a lil raggedy on the edges but it gives it more character I think. Now I gotta figure out where to hang it? =)

I finally too got my mirror hung up with Cj's help but NOW it's actually hanging straight. I got the mirror from Ikea. What do you think?

To conclude this awesome day I went to Ac Moore to pick up some stickers when low & behold  I found  a print I had been looking for in every Home Goods I could I find. The problem with Home Goods is that NO STORE HAS THE SAME THINGS! I saw this print once & I didn't buy it because I thought it was expensive. When I changed my mind & decided to go back for it, of course it wasn't there. But in Ac Moore I found it.

 

I think it goes perfectly with my Red Motif! =) I love how her dress is flowing. It's the Couture Magazine cover from September 1960. I love it. I'm so glad to have it!

Stolen Moments Sunday...

Whew! Somehow I did it all this weekend. I got on that wild ride. Everything that was on my planner got crossed off with ease.  Well…sort of. When you least expect it you might have to run out in a frigid wintery night and call an ambulance because a neighbor found a man lying way too still on the cold ground. You could have a déjà vu moment of a night 46 years ago & get lost in the music. There might be warm arms to lay on as you drift off to sleep. There…Hey let me just explain. =)

Here are my Stolen Moments of the Weekend:

~One of CJ’s neighbor’s knocked on his door at 10pm saying that she found a man lying on the ground in the parking lot. I called 911 as Cj ran to the scene. Thank God he wasn’t dead just unconscious. We got him talking & saw he had a bump on the head. CJ had never seen him before so we gave our info & let the ambulance take him. Cj was a mni hero talking to the guy keeping his head elevated. The man must have slipped on the ice? At least the neighbor saw him, who knows what could have happened.~

~DO NOT TAKE A VEGETARIAN TO A DIM SUM RESTAURANT! There is only pork & shrimp. Needless to say I felt bad so I bought her a bottle of wine. She was cool with it tho. Next time REVIEW MENU FIRST!~

~I took my Dad to see Tron Legacy. I loved the film. It was so for the fans! But what was great was seeing it with my Dad & him thanking me after. He had a great day. It was awesome.~

~CJ’s cat looking for a place between us to snuggle in to be petted. CJ was too asleep so I moved to let her in. She purred like a storm but it was too cute!~

 ~At the Beatles Tribute concert a man yelled, “We miss you John” as the 1964 counterpart sang. It was touching.~

~FINALLY getting a refrigerator that DOESN’T have a dent in it. The new one is completely Dent Free! Thanks Mom for waking up early for it. I love you.~

~My Aunt finally seeing my new place semi decorated. She thought it was adorable.~

~I made my first Omelet EVER! Yeah, I sort of de-flowered my kitchen. Hehe. It looks messy but it was a simple one with sautéed mushrooms, chives, & swiss cheese. Hmmm….yummy! ~

~Going to Carnegie Hall for the first time! The acoustics sounded beautiful! ~

~I sat between CJ & my Dad watching Tron Legacy.  I’ve never had a boyfriend I can take out with my Dad to the movies. I think I have chosen wisely…I love him so much~

When I'm 64...A Music Jam Packed Weekend!!

Hey Everyone! THANK U ever so much for your comments on yesterday post! I feel a 100% better about the job situation. I'm going to start looking even harder ASAP! Today tho I have something fun to share with you! The next few weeks is going to be very Music influenced because I'm going to 2 very special Events!

The first event, snow permitting, is going to be the Beatles Recreation of the 1964 Live Concert at Carnegie Hall in NYC! It's an orchestra doing the music. I think this should be major fun! I've never been to Carnegie Hall so even just going there is going to be an adventure!!

Ironically the other day was my father's birthday & he was singing all day long, "When I'm 64..." the famous Beatle song. Low & behold I'm going to the 1964 Recreation concert. Weird?!?! lol HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!! CJ & I are taking him to see Tron Legacy on Sunday. It should be an experience!

I'm a big Beatles fan so I'm looking forward to hearing the music! Hopefully the weather will be behave!

The Next Event is in 2 weeks. I'm going to get to go see "American Idiot" Broadway show AND Green Day will actually be in the showing!! I'm soo school girl excited to see this!! Cj's Mom got us the tickets for his birthday present! CJ & I's song is actually "Last night on Earth" so this should be awesome to see!!

I also have planned a date with CJ for some Dim Sum!! I love Dim Sum. Ooo Yummy! This week rushed by so fast but I gotta prepare for the rockin music! Be back on Sunday! Have a great weekend!! =)

Every New Beginning Comes from Some Other’s Beginning’s End…The Job Edition.

Sometimes in your life you’re going to reach a point where things HAVE to change to keep your sanity & your wallet in check. This time of change that needs to take place is my job. By March 31st I need to have a new job. I’m really honestly starting to think I fell into a comfort trap here. I make an okay salary & I have benefits. Please don’t get me wrong because I’m VERY GRATEFUL to have a job which is where my problem arises. I’m scared to leave my current job because I fear the worse case scenarios.

Having just bought my first home & having a mortgage by myself is one of the things keeping here. I fear that if I leave & don’t like the new job or it just doesn’t work out I’ll be up shit’s creek. I have savings but right now I can’t afford to be jobless or health insurance less. However I have to 2 college degrees that are literally just growing dust in their frames and in my mind. It’s a problem…

Right now I can pay my bills fine & live comfortable but I’m not happy. There are many factors, for example CONSTANT Sports talk, is one that is driving me insane. Yes it’s a job full of men & I’m the only girl but I just can’t take listening to another Yankee game & then the fretting over it & the yelling during the game & the running to the conference room to see the plays & then the discussing & then the “What should have happened” for another yearly season. It’s a mania here & it’s all year long whether it’s basketball, football, golf, Nascar, baseball, & I don’t know what else. I have to get out of here.

I’m going to have to take this risk leaving. I have sent countless applications on career builder, monster.com, hotjobs, jobfox…you name it but no bites. I’m seriously considering going to an agency or having a professional do my resume because I guess there isn’t any on it that’s OOo Oooo WE HAVE TO HER! I have to work on writing a successful cover letter too. I can’t flake out on this again. I just can’t.

This is a resolution from last year that I regret not doing. I have to do it. I have to get over thid fear & be determined that I will get a job that’s right for me. You have to take risks…I’m just hoping it will be successful.

Have any of you recently got a new job or in a similar boat as me? Want to leave but isn’t sure how to get in that New Door? Any Advice?

Ohhh I didn't realize that...huh...Look at that, There IS A DIFFERENCE!!

In this New Chapter of my life where I am now a home owner the subject of parties & mini get togethers are buzzing around constantly. I cant' wait to have a small dinner party when I find a dinner table that doesn't break the bank & will fit nicely into the space. But already I realized that I didn't know certain things. *Cough* Like the truth about the left-over chinese food. Thank god for ginger ale. *Cough* Well something I didn't know that will help me in the future came up yesterday...Wine Glasses. 

The other day I was in Pier 1 Imports and noticed they had these really nice wine glasses for a cheap price but the glass was weighted & looked beautiful. I picked up 4 of them & got out my White Riesling Wine last night & low behold Cj turns to me and says,

"Babe do you have any White Wine Glasses? These are Red Wine Glasses."

Huh? I guess I never realized that there are different types of wine glasses. So I thought I'd share with you what I found.

Red Wine Glasses

"Glasses for red wine are characterized by their rounder, wider bowl, which increases the rate of oxidation." - Wikipedia

White Wine Glasses

 

" White wine glasses vary enormously in size and shape, from the delicately tapered Champagne flute, to the wide and shallow glasses used to drink Chardonnay. Different shaped glasses are used to accentuate the unique characteristics of different styles of wine." - Wikipedia

There is a whole process of oxidization of the wines which affects the taste of the wine. Red Wine needs oxidization so the wine glass has that inward bowl. The white wine sometimes needs LESS to bring out the flavor so the glass sometimes has a smaller mouth on it. 

There is so much more but I thought I would give you guys a taste of different wine glasses so you at least can see the difference for future purchases!

Stolen Moments Sunday...

Here is another edition of my New Feature. Stolen Moments Sunday I'm so glad I'm sticking with this. This weekend turned out so nice I couldn’t have planned it better myself. The shock of finally owning my place has worn off & now I’m reveling in it. I had a couple over with Cj on Saturday night & I made dip, we played Rock Band, I put out bowls of yummy snacks out, & I felt like it was a total success!! I wasn’t overwhelmed or frazzled. I still tho have to do something with my naked walls. It’s too much white. I will paint probably in the spring but right now I need something on them. Hmmm…Anywho…

The weekend was full of Awesome Moments & some questionable ones…I’ll explain. =)

 ~Making cupcakes for my friend Debra’s Annual Soup Party! Yeah I know that’s new to people’s ears. Soup Party?!?  She thought it would be a new quirky tradition to start. Each person/couple brings a different type of soup. She made this tomato, rosemary, garlic soup from a Williams Sonoma book that was DELICIOUS!! The winner of the Best Soup got a golden Ladle. A lil strange but it was a great Sunday activity. ~

~The new refrigerator was supposed to come on Friday during the snow storm. Yeahhh it didn’t. My Mom & I shoveled the walk way for it but alas no show. I called and they said it was a mix-up & that they were sorry. Dented fridge & False Call for Delivery…Thanks Loews, you sorta suck. ~

~CJ & I planning a mini vacation for April. We are going somewhere tropical. I’m soo excited. ~

~Green Day Rock Band. KICKASS GAME!! Seriously, they have almost every song you can think of. It was so much to rock out to it! Also The Beatles Rock Band. A lot fun for all ages. I recommend it. =)~

~Cj stayed over on Saturday night & I had written “I <3 CJ” on my lil dry erase board. I didn’t tell him I did that but when I looked at the board at some point I saw beneath it… “He <3’s Melababe.” That's his nickname for me. It was too cute. ~ 

~Ohh yeah PASS on the movie, “Dinner for Schmucks”. THANK GOD we only rented it from a Red Box for like a $1. If I had paid money in the theaters I would have been pissed. The movie went too far & it was awful. ~

~Hearing a miraculous story about a homeless man who is now the announcer for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese & has a God given voice. Good for you Ted Williams!~ 

~One last thing. Finding a TV channel called Logo that plays Buffy the Vampire Slayer re-runs! Hell Yeah!~

Oh No! My Crushee is BACK!!! AHHH!!!

The snow. Yes, it's back. Around this time last year it messed up every date, event, occasion, or just even a hang out on me. I swore it had a crush on me. But thankfully this year it gave me a lil break and only did it's thang while I was at work. =)

It has the nerve to look pretty. =) I have a feeling this is going to be a slow year. A very very slow year. This week seemed to last forever & the weekend just creeped to slow. Yeahh tho for it FINALLY arriving!!

I'm heading over to CJ's place tonight for some Shrimp Tacos. mmhhhmmm Yummy!! A lil shrimp cooked in garlic pieces, rice, chopped-up tomato, sauteed onions, sour cream, soft taco shells, and a splash of salsa...Ohh and a lil bit of love is music to my ears.

A lil Kerosene, blow tourch..hmmm...No Problem! =)

I love that scene in the movie, "Beetlejuice" when Delia & Otho go through the Maitland's house and basically want to change everything.  I wonder what they would think of my lil home. =)

As I prepare for the next winter storm by stocking up on wine, chips & salsa I thought I would share with you guys some pics of what I've done so far with my new place & a draw-back. I received my refrigerator on Tuesday and was sooo excited for it. Everything was coming together but alas things weren't so perfect. I didn't take all the plastic off until I got home from work & I found that there was a HUGE DENT in the refrigerator door. I've calmed down from the insane anger rage state I was in, like seriously if I was in an anime cartoon my head would be huge & red & I'd have horns with lil puffs of smoke radiating from my head. Here's a pic of the big dent.

Thankfully however the replacement refrigerator is coming tomorrow. AND hopefully the snow won't be too bad to delay it. =)

I did manage to get a desk, my bed, & a couch set up so here are some pics for the time being. =)

Yeahh somehow my color scheme became red. I like it tho! =)

This condo has been a lil overwhelming at times but I asked my mom to help me & cj so it should continue to come together nicely! =) 

11 in 11…Make a wish for a Rocking New Year!

Once upon a time I wanted to get married on 11/11/11. I thought it would be the coolest day ever to get to married. BUT I doubt that’s going to happen, however I’m completely cool with that. Cj told me the other day that the day he’d want to get married is March 20th. Of course I squinted at him and asked Why? He replied, “Because it’s the First Day of Spring & I thought it would be special day to get married.” Yet another small moment that makes my heart smile.

In reality that day isn’t going to come this year which again I’m TOTALLY Cool about so What am I going to do be doing for next uhh 359 days? What tricks will I have up my sleeve? How about 11 resolutions for the 11th year? Yeah I like that.

1.   Lose 25 pounds & Keep it Off. I’d be happy for 20 pounds.

2. Save some money this year. Now that I have a mortgage this is a MUST!

3. Declutter, throw out, & keep my new condo as CLEAN AS POSSIBLE!

Geez it seems like everybody has those 3 resolutions, so I’m going to make the next few a bit more personal.

4. Set & Complete a small weekly Goal every 2 weeks.

5. Keep a planner the WHOLE YEAR to keep track of paying bills, dates, events, etc. I need to be On-Time with way too much so This is a MUST!

6. Write the first draft of my zombie novel. It will never be anything if it’s just in my head. I have to get it on paper somehow.

7. Make some new friends & let go of the shitty friends. It’s okay not to hold on anymore if they aren’t even meeting you halfway.

8. Go to a Blogger Meet-up! Or meet someone from blogger! I’m looking forward to this one!

9. Travel to more places I’ve never been before!

10. Keep my relationship with CJ fresh & new & growing. He was one of the best parts of 2010 & I want him to be a big part of my 2011.

11. MOST IMPORTANT ONE: Find a New job with Benefits that uses my Degrees.

I think that’s a pretty reasonable list. Nothing to far-fetched like riding an elephant…well that will be something I want to do some day. The only problem with resolutions is straying from them but that’s the best part of the day I find. Those random occurrences you didn’t plan. Like meeting a guy in a bar & falling in love. Meeting Pat Benatar & Molly Ringwald. Accidentally booking a hotel that was smack in the middle of the Transformers 3 filming. Finding my dreams again & learning they can come true. Loving cake decorating & cupcake making. I wonder what’s going to happen unexpectedly this year?!
