Well this is growing up...

Only yesterday I was singing a "Part of your World" from The Little Mermaid...& then the 20 some odd years of my life rushed back to me. When we're little we want to grow up so badly & I still am SO glad I'm 24 not 4 or even 14 but sometimes I wish I was back to those ages because making decisions is one of the hardest thing a grown-up has to do. Decisions that will affect our well-being, our bank accounts, & pretty much all aspects of our physical & mental lives.

Last night I made a decision Not to go to Las Vegas for vacation because the friend I would go with would literally drain my bank account & drive me completely insane.

I'm happy in my decision to not go to Vegas & maybe do a smaller trip to the Jersey shore or Canada or go to the Poconos in PA( my aunt has a house there) because I work wayy to hard for my money & I don't believe I'd have fun with my friend. Her & I are from two different worlds. I can't do it. I just can't. I also don't trust her & her ways of thinking deserve a post of their own so I just don't live in the fantasy world that she does. If I stay somewhere local I won't need a vacation from my vacation. I'm not made of money & I think she is basically. It sucks but I'm going to try & make the best of it!

Cj & I are going into New York City tomorrow to go to either the Metropolitian Museum of Art of the Natural History Museum. I'm excited. I want to show him the Ghostbusters Fire House while were there & go to Canal Street & China Town & Little Italy &....there is so much to do there & I think I'll enjoy the day with him EVER so much more than that Vegas trip that has me panicing. Vacation is not supposed to be filled with panic or dreading that next credit card bill. You want to enjoy yourself & be happy. I'm trying for that goal.

My favorite fortune cookies are the ones that say like, "You will be happy for many moons" or the ones that are like, "You will cherish your moments" or "Walk smart & be healthy." It makes me smile. I want a happy life & a happy fortune & can't be bogged down by ridiclousness. Reconignition of drama before it crosses your path has become my mission lately so I can avoid it. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it all pans out! It's all a part of growing up...*Hoping*

I hope you all have a great weekend! Keep hydrated & have some fun!! =)

You definitely made the right choice. Besides, Vegas can be overrated - the Jersey Shore sounds far more fun. I used to spend a lot of time there as a child!

I hope that you have a fabulous time in NYC with CJ!! :)

You have a great weekend too missy!

NEVER go on vacation with someone you do not trust - and it is supposed to be relaxing, not stressful - whether it be the cost, etc.

You can always save up to go on the vacay you really want!

Huh. I didn't really realize that people actually vacationed at the Jersey Shore. Perhaps MTV has once again skewed my perception of reality, like the time I asked for a $300K Maybach for my super sweet 16.

Vegas is no place to be stranded or in disagreement about finances. Unless the friend is paying the bill stay away.

Good decision. Some people get caught up in the moment and regret it all later. Have fun with CJ and I do need to stay hydrated. I think I'm getting all dizzy and stuff from lack of sugar and electrolytes. *sigh*

Hey sweetie! I struggle with this too. I want to travel, see the world, and do what I want, but need to be practical. I just saw World of Color last night at Disneyland and there was a whole section on The Little Mermaid and it brought back memories for me too. Hope you have a great weekend!!!! Kori xoxo

Hey, it takes a smart person to say no, and realize what is best for them. I often wish I was younger in a more carefree state when decision did not mean the ruin of my future. Sometimes all the choices can be overwhelming. Your day in New York City sounds amazing, I really want to go visit I would love to visit the museums! I hope you have a great day :)

I think you made the right decision, you work too hard to blow your money away on a drunken weekend of gambling, pricey food, and outlandish hotels, I think NY sounds a lot more fun and classy. I hope you enjoy it 10x better than the Vegas trip.

I love how you told all of us to keep hydrated ;)

I am so glad things are going so well with CJ. Just remember ... enjoy the process. He kinda sounds like a keeper (whether short, long or permanent ...no pressure LOL).
I have an idea for a vacation for you ... come to Toronto! Just not this weekend ... it's stupid here.
It'd be such a blast to have you here!
Good luck with everything.

You made the right choice as far as Vegas. If you come to the Met see the Picasso exhibit it's fascinating! And American woman the clothing styles for all eras are great. Have fun.

I love The Little Mermaid! I agree with this post in so many ways. There is a lot to be said for living within your means. Some of us learn that sooner than others so I hope your friend respects your decision. Hope you have a good weekend x

It sounds like you have a FABULOUS weekend planned. :)

I don't blame you for ditching LV...your friend sounds irresponsible, and not in the fabulous, fun way. Lol.

Have fun! I can't wait to hear all about it! xoxo

i remember a few years ago when i realised that when you're full grown up you're independant, etc and the idea just freaked me out SO much, yet here I am a few years down the line perfectly fine.
Being grown up is badass <3

Life is definitely too short to do things that you aren't excited about. Good decision not to go to Vegas. Why waste your precious time spending time with someone that you don't enjoy and spending money in ways you don't want to. Good for you!

PS. Just found your blog through Journey of the incessant dieter and love it. I am a new follower. I hope you'll come check out my blog and follow too. I think you'll like it.!
